Well called and because I just want information like will P&O fly me back to Manchester from Barbados after a TA (as the website is not clear), or a price, but not book, they won't discuss anything with me until Monday. What's the point of registering in advance which I did on Sunday?

I refer you to my previous post, use a TA.

Peter if I was you I'd cancel my pre-registration with P&O and speak to a cruise specialist agent as I'm sure they will be able to help you with your query. You'll probably find your cruise will be a bit cheaper with them as well :)

I am a TA, but I only book business travel, not leisure. So I don't book cruises other than for myself direct with the cruise line. You would think that they would understand that when they are dealing with someone in the same industry, but no. Many thanks Dai but just repeating your post isn't that helpful nor useful, but then again we never agree on anything do we? :)

Thanks for the suggestion but they won't cancel my pre-registration as that option is now closed! It doesn't help that I want to transfer an existing booking once I know the details/prices/options etc for the TA, but they won't discuss either.

I can see another P&O booking being cancelled due to their inept customer service.

Well as a TA why would you not go with a specialist in the field. You are correct I am only trying to help but I am not a mind reader I did not know you were in the trade.

Another good reason for going with a specialist cruise TA.

I am not trying to be confrontational I am trying to help. My TA gets me what I want at a better price than P&O. I get the cabin I want etc. I make one phone call tell him my requirements and it is done. He is very helpful as he knows all the pitfalls of the P&O system like sorting back to backs and dealing with multiple FCD's which the P&O system wants to put all on one cruise.

As I say I am trying to help that is all.

I booked a cruise on Oceana while I was on board Ventura on Monday 20th March.

Departing 20th Jan 2019 NO. A902

I paid £50 deposit for a HF balcony for single use, given a price which I accepted but they could not give me a cabin number. I specifically want a starboard one on A deck.

I now see other people on this thread who have had their cabin numbers given either at time of booking or subsequent contact via email or TA.

I was told that cabins would not be allocated until 27th or, in my case, the 30th(Arabian and World)

Although booked on board it is going through my TA

Can anybody offer a reason why I have no cabin number yet?

Yes because you booked through P&O. All the higher tier passengers will have picked their cabins before you get a pick. That happened today with TA's getting first pick. On the first day of booking the TA's get a period of time when they can book their clients. Then P&O come in and book theirs. So there are a number of people who could book before you. That's why you cannot get a cabin number before the 30th. But you will get a cabin.

The reason some of you have been disappointed is that bookings opened today ONLY for the highest loyalty tiers ie. Caribbean, Baltic and Ligurian. They have a few days to have their bookings confirmed before bookings open to people on other tiers / general public, I believe

I booked that one this morning at 0830 and a considerable amount of cabins had already been sold!

I get the impression that they are going to be very popular and they are not cheap.

£180+ pppn is not a deal. And of course if they are selling well the price will only go one way.

We transferred an existing booking after we had pre registered for another one without any problems, once the me booking was confirmed they transferred over the deposit we had paid and added the admin fee, if that's any help.

Dai. Thanks for your earlier comments.

Where do you get £180pppn? I am paying less than that for a single in a balcony, surely PandO are not going to put the price up for me as I have a registration and booking summary confirming they will send me a booking confirmation confirming my booking and cabin number. I have paid a deposit

Sorry I didn't realise you were transferring a booking as well. In that case you'd need to stick with P&O (assuming your original booking was made via them) so that they can do it all in one go.

Could I ask a question, please?

Do you all book and pay your deposit before you know the exact price and your cabin no.

I don't want to book at the minute.....too far in the future for me. But I have been noting everyone agreeing early booking is cheapest so I may have to consider changing my habits.

No, I deal with an excellent TA, who does all the groundwork and gets a price. On the day of booking she confirms the details including the cabin etc with me over the phone before she presses the book button. At this point I pay the deposit. This TA is exceptional and never fails to deliver.

I am looking at a quote for an inside 19th Feb 11 nights £118 pppn on a TA website

Same cruise cheapest balcony I can see is £167.54 pppn. Most expensive balcony £181.36 pppn. This is with past passenger and TA discounts.

The 14 night cruise and stay is slightly cheaper at £166.18 for the cheapest balcony.

Worked out what you have done, you must be on the repositioning cruise. That one is a lot cheaper. All the rest are in line with my prices in the other post.
