Spring Break cruise - my thoughts

We just got back from a week on the Magic, March 25-April 1.

MY thoughts...good and bad.

Bad...

It wasn't that there were so many little kids, or so many pre-teens, or so many hormonal teens, or so many college kids...it was all at the same time.

Magic ran out of ice almost every day for periods of time. Ice cream machines never had time to chill the mix as there were kids in line at each one 24/7.

Parents just didn't seem to care how badly their kids behaved.... kids throwing food in Lido food area, dropping food all over the floor and kicking it, just a mess on the Lido. Crew did their best to keep up with it, but we felt sorry for them. I am sure the crew couldn't wait for Spring break to be over. Kids just behaved like wild animals....not ALL of them, but a large portion.

We even had teens throwing candy bars at people as they walked down the walkway by the teen club. Almost hit me in the face...kid then said ooops sorry, thought you might want a candy bar. The other kids all laughed. Saw them do it to the next couple coming down the hall too.

Smoking....geez, the Casino was a fog all week, and we hate that we have to walk through it when walking the decks.

No sports bar on the Magic...so if you want to watch a game, you have to sit is the smoke fog of the casino.

Good...

Dr E is absolutely amazing. Talented and funny and always positive, greeting everyone by name even if he only met them once. Just stellar.

Playlist Productions...Wow, just fantastic and love the new shows. America Rocks the last night was even better from Epic Rock seen on some of the ships last week. We really loved Flick also, as well as the Welcome show on first night. Didn't catch 88 Keys this time but we have seen it before on another ship. Country Roads was a bit odd, maybe a bit more old school show but the singing was good.

Red Frog Pub....had 2 kegs of a new beer brewed on the Vista (they picked it up from them at Cozumel the week before. My DH is a beer man so he was in heaven, but it ran out half way through the week. They said they would be getting more next time to Cozumel.

I will be writing a trip report in the next few weeks....tons of photos and videos to share.

WE will not be doing a Spring Break cruise again for the above reasons. Just wanted to share what we saw in order for others who might be looking to book

Looking forward to your trip report! Thanks for the info on the Spring Break crowd. As a retired teacher, I get ticked when parents aren't parenting their kids. Some people (not all parents) are raising an entitled, selfish generation, it would seem!

We are on the Fantasy right now getting ready to head to the muster drill. We've pretty much decided that this will be our last Spring Break cruise. It's looking like the adults are going to be more of a problem on this one. We''ll see. ;p

I would have been extremely tempted to throw the candy bars back at them.

I get defensive easily(bipolar). I have good and bad days(mostly good). The bad days are nothing more than rapid cycling(irrationally upset one minute, then perfectly calm and over it the next). I had to suffer through extensive bullying in middle school, and the school refused to do anything about it. I was always getting in trouble for reacting. The district was violating the Rehabilitation Act and the ADA. The Office for Civil Rights had to get involved.

I definitely would have yelled at them. I also would have tried to take a picture of the brats and then reported them(not that it would have done much good).

As for the clouds of smoke, I either pinch my nose or cover my nose and mouth and walk on by. I don't try to hide my disgust. When I am in the casino(only a few hours on the last night), I unfortunately get used to the smell.

I would have tried to pick up as much of the trash as I could before the staff stopped me. It would bug me. I don't like leaving a mess at a restaurant.

pcvtmom, what age range do you consider the selfish, entitled generation to be in? There is a generation after millennials(Gen Z), but they are usually lumped in with millennials. I think Gen Z represents the worst of the people that are thought to be millennials.

I want to know because I am technically a millennial(28), but I don't feel like one. I understand and like technology, but I don't have to have the latest and greatest. I am not addicted to social media. I think it is mostly annoying. I think Twitter is useful if you want a company to actually address your complaint. I was always grateful to get any trophy. I never felt like I was entitled to it. I just wanted something to put on display in my room(like I saw on TV). I actually played outside unsupervised. My parents didn't feel the need to hover. I remember the days before widespread internet access. I actually used AOL free trial CDs.

I have always wondered if someone else feels this way.

You pretty much have it nailed down with the exception of blood spattered fighting I've seen . Ice cream walls in the elevators every day . I could go on but it happens.

Trust me....I thought about picking up the candy bar and throwing back at the kid as hard as possible. But I decided not to do it, he saw I was pissed. I was busy trying to get my step count (I have a Fitbit) so walking the decks 3-4-5 back and forth. If I wasn't doing that, I would have stopped and spoken to the kids, and reported them to Guest Services....but like I said, it was just par for the course last week. My DH went up the stairs by the water slides one day and kids were standing at top kicking water and splashing water onto people on the stairs. Yes, really. Seriously, parents standing right there and said nothing. It was unreal.

When a kid throws a candy bar at you that's just a poor neglected child. When you throw one at them that's child abuse :halo: :D :')

We were on the Breeze March 26th thru April 2nd. There were plenty of kids on the ship but for the most part they didn't bother me...except the one time a group of teens were hanging in the hall and then started screaming loudly. I told em to knock it off and they did.

We enjoyed our cruise and I plan to write a review later. In fact the cruise was better then good.....2 thumbs up

I don't want to hijack your post but there were plenty of things I observed from adults (not so much the kids) that made me want to scream "For the love of all that is holy do not..."

Go through the buffet line eating the food on your plate and licking your fingers and touching the serving utensils. Gross!!! I just saw you on the deck picking your toes. You will not starve in the 5 minutes it takes to get through the buffet line.

Act like you have no home training. Please and thank you are very easy to say and you seem to act the like the workers don't deserve this courtesy.

Throw your trash and straw papers on the ground. You just ate 14 cookies...the 2 foot walk to the trash can will do you good.

Yell at the worker clearing the tables because he/she did not realize you were coming back to the table and they bussed it taking your fork. Again, you are eating your fifth sweet roll that you spread 10 pats of butter on. The walk back to grab another fork will be good for you. (I say this tongue in cheek, I also ate my share of groceries :)) However yelling at the workers is not cool.

Act you don't understand what a line q is and how lines work (When waiting for something)

I have more but you get the idea. ;)

you know this is not true, Red Frog, Lido Deck aft

The Red Frog pub didn't open until after lunch, and tv only shows one game. It was also packed all week due to them having Karoke in it...... dozens of teens, squaling like dying cats in a microphone, with all their friends with camera phones in air recording them. Seriously, just as bad as the smoke in casino.
