sandpiper35 Posted April 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2017 Hello All! I heard that the complementary dinners for Black Label members are no longer from a fixed menu. Now we can choose any and all items from the regular menu. Can someone confirm? Cheers.
Moobaby214 Posted April 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2017 I am curious as well!
marti2282 Posted April 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2017 We are just off the Divina and redeemed our "Black" dinner certificate in Eataly. We were given the regular menu and told to choose an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. I choose a pasta and my husband choose a salad for the app. The server said the portions were large and suggested we share them -- she divide them on plates for each of us. It worked well. We had PLENTY of food and actually skipped dessert.
hawkeyetlse Posted April 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2017 I've heard that for Eataly on Divina, but Divina is exceptional in many ways. Other restaurants on other ships may still be using a limited menu. That was the case at the Tex Mex restaurant on Splendida in February, for example, but things may have changed since then, too. sandpiper35 Posted April 9, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted April 9, 2017 SO it seems to be true, at least in the Divina. Thank you both for your replies. We sail the Divina in May so we are happy to have additional choices. Thank You.
peteukmcr Posted April 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2017 On Fantasia 5 weeks ago you could only choose from a limited fixed menu in the Tex Mex.
kimala Posted April 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Is the "Black" complimentary dinner a perk you get if you are in a top tier club with another cruise line? We are Diamond with Royal and Ive just filled out the form to get matching club status as we may be sailling Divina this year.

By the way, Eataly is open for lunch on sea days, and the perk can be used then also.
kimala Posted April 10, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Thank you...that is a nice perk especially if one is on a budget and might otherwise not get to visit a specialty restaurant. Im excited...hope we can swing it.
lifeasme123 Posted April 10, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Curious. Is this perk for all MSC ships or just Divina? Do they provide the certificate on the ship?

Not sure if it applies to the entire fleet, but yes, the certificate was delivered to our cabin. AND if both you and your cabinmate are BLACK level in the Voyages Club, you will each get a certificate for dinner for two.
hawkeyetlse Posted April 10, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2017 On Splendida we didn't receive any certificates for the specialty meal (or for the 1-hr spa visit). People who didn't know about these perks already probably missed out.

If you are traveling single can you use the certificate on two different nights for your dinner?

caribbeanboy Posted September 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2017 If you are traveling single can you use the certificate on two different nights for your dinner? On Royal Caribbean I do it all the time, so it depends how flexible they are.

Rare Morgsmom Posted September 12, 2017 #18 Share Posted September 12, 2017 So I'll pose a corollary to the sailing solo question -- my hubby and Stepson are both Black (I am wee Gold); could we go as a threesome twice but SHARE the food for 2? or go as a 3 but order 4 apps, 4 entrees? Just a thought
Rare Beamafar Posted September 12, 2017 #19 Share Posted September 12, 2017 If you are traveling single can you use the certificate on two different nights for your dinner? No - you only get one dinner for two - not 2 dinners. If a couple are both black card they get one dinner for 2 each - hence 2 evenings to enjoy. Rare Beamafar Posted September 12, 2017 #20 Share Posted September 12, 2017 Which one would you recommend Eataly or Galaxy? I recommend Galaxy over Eataly. I've also noticed from reviews that Galaxy wins out with others, too.
Lfehlauer77 Posted September 13, 2017 #21 Share Posted September 13, 2017 I 100% would choose Galaxy over Eataly. And the options for your meal will be the same as Eataly. You can choose an app or pasta, one entrée, and dessert. I can't say enough about the meal in Galaxy. We are a party of four and went back a second night it was so good. The service was incredible as well. We'll be cruising again on Divina in 10 days!
jdvmd Posted September 14, 2017 #22 Share Posted September 14, 2017 Another vote for Galaxy - it was really a great meal. Loved the ambiance also. Eataly was good but my husband hated the plastic chairs, decor, bright lights. Not what we were expecting. Service was very good, however.
cellfree Posted September 15, 2017 #23 Share Posted September 15, 2017 I would not recommend the Eataly - although the food is good both times we experienced agonizingly slow service and both times they realized they were slow and both times they blamed overbooking. But I have talked to cruisers who thoroughly enjoyed the Eataly and experienced good service.
spidybabe Posted September 15, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 15, 2017 We would recommend Eataly over Galaxy. Went 3 times to Eataly and only 1 time to Galaxy last week (12 day cruise thanks to Irma). Just check the menus onboard, see which you like better Safe sailing
cellfree Posted September 15, 2017 #25 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Interesting, we were on the same cruise and disembarked yesterday - our first experience in the Eataly was in April - and again this cruise - glad you had such great times in the Eataly. BTW, loved the cruise, had a wonderful time, an outstanding Captain and Crew.
