Travels with Lisa Posted April 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2017 hi all This will be my first cruise with Oceania and I have several questions: - is there an onboard, self service laundry -what is the pricing for your average glass of wine, beer and cocktail (I'm trying to determine if the house beverage package makes sense or the OBC) - I know there are no "formal" nights, but how does the general populous dress for dinner thanks in advance! Rare pinotlover Posted April 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Every ship has an on board self service laundry. I believe if you go to the deck plans for the ship you are sailing it will show where those laundries are located. Average is not typically a good representation of anything for anyone. If you enjoy 2-3 glasses of wine with dinner and maybe a dessert wine, then the standard package is probably a good match. If you drink maybe a glass of wine with dinner, not so. I avoid discussions on dress. The standard is country club casual. Some here like to argue over whether their jeans are dress jeans or casual and if their decorated flip flop are flip flops or sandals. We don't take jeans, nor wear any thong flip flops, nor participate any longer in the boring conversations on that matter. I'll leave that to those with a passion to defend blue jeans and flip flops. If you goggle dress code or do a simple search, you can reads hours worth of debate on that issue.
Mura Posted April 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2017 I pretty much agree with Pinot. For us, the liquor package is not worth it since my hubby doesn't drink. Okay, *I* could get the package but given his non-drinker status (an occasional glass of wine) it's not worth it even for me because we don't go to the bars for cocktails. Instead, I bring on a few bottles for consumption in the room. Depending on our departure port (i.e. if we're leaving from NY or Miami I may bring on more, if a foreign port maybe more. I don't mind paying a corkage fee in a restaurant with a favorite bottle but usually I'm more likely to just buy from the list. That's what OBC is for! (I should say that as about-to-be gold members, that is a significant amount.) There are lists out there that will give you ideas of drink costs. My GUESS is that a glass of wine averages $10 with the obligatory tip, most people say that you need to order a double for real alcohol, and that can run $20. How much do you drink? (I'm not asking for an answer!) If you are on a cruise with many sea days you probably would have more alcoholic drinks than you would on a port intensive cruise where you are off the ship much of the time. So you need to calculate that. Once you order the package, it's a per day charge that cannot be cancelled. But you do not have to order it immediately. You can wait. It's pretty much a waste of money IMO to have the package in force on departure day. I suggest searching CC for "liquor packages" or "drink costs". That may give you more direct info. As for dress code, this shouldn't be a problem. If you dress modestly (nice but not fancy), you'll be fine. Men do NOT need a jacket but if they want to, they won't be alone. Many women wear pants suits or dressy tops with casual bottoms (not jeans) to dinner. It's not the problem it is on cruise lines that have formal evenings. I think a load to wash/dry costs $2.00, soap included. Drinks vary but on average run about $10, more for top shelf. Collared shirt, slacks and shoes (not open toed) are required in the restaurants for dinner except for the Terrace Cafe which is more casual. JimandStan Posted April 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2017 -what is the pricing for your average glass of wine, beer and cocktail (I'm trying to determine if the house beverage package makes sense or the OBC)More important (at least to me) than price is the fact that the House Select Package strictly covers wine or beer during luncheon or dinner (not even breakfast). If you are a lounge or a bar drinker, it won't help you. :cocktail::cocktail:
Artful Posted April 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2017 I might add that when looking at the deck plans to find the self serve laundry, it is designated with a hanger. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Rare ronrick1943 Posted April 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2017 If you drink at all, go for the prem package, it's a better deal. Use your OBC to buy it and add what you need.
