ladylinguatx Posted April 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2017 We will arrive in Barcelona the night before embarkation. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to see some of the city (especially Sagrada Familia) before heading to the ship on embarkation day? We don't mind an early start and are willing to use public transportation. We will be staying at Fira Center. Thank you!
Colo Cruiser Posted April 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2017 Did you join the roll call for your cruise? There may be others there doing the same thing.

Tedferg Posted April 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2017 We used BarcelonaDayTours.com check if they have a tour that suits you. You might be able to share the tour with Roll Call contacts. Email them if standard tour does not fit your time slot. They picked us up at hotel with luggage and dropped us off at the ship.
Rare 4cats4me Posted April 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2017 Another vote for Barcelona Day Tours. We were pleased with their service If all you want to do is go to the Sagrada, it is easily doable on your own. You should purchase your tickets in advance and print out the voucher and redeem at their ticket office. You may choose a time. I recommend the earliest possible time so that you can depart by 1:00 or so to make it to your ship. The Sagrada is not all that far from the port But with Barcelona Day Tours, you will be able to do a half-day tour and they will hold all your luggage and then drop you at the port afterwards. apeller Posted April 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2017 And another vote yet for Barcelona Day Tours. They will organize small group tours, and you may be able to join one that already exists. Email them to see what's available, and definitely share it on your roll call. Also, share it on the roll call of the cruise before you, Someone getting off the ship may be interested too. Ronnie1a Posted April 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2017 The double deck busses give nice tours although are not equipped to handle luggage. Cheaper than most other tours. Do an internet search for Barcelona tours.
Tyskie Posted April 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2017 Another vote for Barcelona Day Tours - we did it after the cruise- picked us up at the port - after tour dropped us all off at our hotels. La Sagrada we did on our own- make sure you secure your tickets online ahead of time - Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Pmorton3360 Posted April 15, 2017 #9 Share Posted April 15, 2017 We did La Sagrada from our hotel on subway . Very easy. Saw where your hotel was. If you get there early evening, try to catch the Magic Fountain. Sent from my BLU STUDIO 5.5 HD using Forums mobile app
Disnyfan2 Posted April 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted April 16, 2017 We did Hola Barcelona tours back in 2012. They took us around town, to Parc Quell and the skip the line tour of the Sagrada Familia. The only thing we did get to do was a stroll down the Ramblas. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted April 16, 2017 #11 Share Posted April 16, 2017 We enjoyed the City Sightseeing HOHO bus. If you stay on, the loop takes about 1.5 hours, and then you can transfer to the other loop for another 1.5 hours to get a broad overview of the city. RHowman Posted April 18, 2017 #12 Share Posted April 18, 2017 Love HOHO buses. Done them in many places around the world. In Barcelona we loved the Olympic Park. A real gem. Plus walking down the main street.

BarbinMich Posted April 18, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 18, 2017 We've been in Barcelona several times and have enjoyed the Hop-On Hop-Off tours. We' not Gaudi fans so don't go out of our way to see his work. The HOHO drives by several of his "works" (and may even stop near one so you can get off and enjoy more that a passing glimpse). This fall we're sailing out of Barcelona for the first time and decided to stay in the Barri Gotic, near the Cathedral.. We look forward to exploring the area's "nooks and crannies." Also, it's not too far from the Aquarium, the Zoo, and the beach front.
MOLLICRUISIN Posted April 19, 2017 #15 Share Posted April 19, 2017 I would suggest getting a cab and asking if he'd be willing to be your driver for the half day. This way you just say where you want to go and don't have to worry about transportation. Make it a point to have a foodie experience in Barcelona, tapas and paella! Try to stray away from the tourist areas for the best food.
