If I may ask, when you tipped when you did on HAL, did you tip routinely for what might be considered “normal service” or reserve a tip for those times you received truly extraordinary service? You know, the above and beyond kind of service. Well, you are welcome to ask. When I sailed during those years of "no tipping required", I had sailed in the years before doing so. I was also aware of past accepted practices as to offering gratuities and the amounts offered. I followed those practices.
