Explorer of the Seas -anything special for July 4th ?

Hello,

We will be in Alaska over the 4th and while we miss the special events in Juneau and Skagway, I wondered if the ship does anything on the 4th of July? Special décor? Special party favors? Activities? I already read elsewhere on CC that RC does not have permit for fireworks off ship.

They may have some patriotic decorations up..no fireworks, tho. Perhaps one of your ports will have a show....

There has not been any special event in our experience over the 4th. And you are correct that they do not have any fireworks display on board.

Juneau have fireworks at midnight I think July 3 to July 4. Maybe just maybe coming back from Skagway and passing Juneau to Tracy Arm we can look out and see something. Probably not though, LOL! :-)

I am hoping there is something to celebrate the 4th on this sailing. If nothing else, as others have said, hopefully the skies will be clear enough to see some fireworks in the distance somewhere.

The sunsets around 10 PM in July in Juneau. I don't think you will be in port until midnight- when it's dark enough for fireworks. So you may see them from the ship if any of the small ports send up fireworks.

On the 4 th they had a promenade party with dropping of balloons, music and free cake. Wait staff also sang for us at dinner. Never had so much free cake as on this cruise. A welcome aboard, 4 th of July and farewell cakes!
