Pellaz Posted June 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2017 Please tell me all the good things about the Conquest We had a great cruise on Conquest two Octobers ago and we re-booked Conquest last October...and had an even better time! She has all the FunShip 2.0 upgrades, so you get some really awesome features like Guy's Burger Joint, Blue Iguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar, etc. She was the first ship to have the Fish'n'Chips (on Deck 10, Panorama) replaced with Ol' Fashioned Barbecue...in my mind, an upgrade since I like BBQ and don't eat seafood. Like so many other Carnival specialty eateries, it's free/included in your fare. It's also half-hidden up on Deck 10 above the Lido buffet, so people don't tend to find it until Day 3. Although she doesn't have a Serenity adult area (yet), she DOES have nice cushioned loungers along Deck 10 on both sides, midships. As of last October the Pizza Pirate location (Deck 9 Lido, aft) had an expanded "Pizza Pirate Plus" menu from 11pm to 1am, offering lasagna and a rotating sandwich option as well as pizza, cookies and Caesar salad. The lasagna was VERY meaty and really good. We were extremely pleased with our dining room staff and requested them every night after the first (we had Your Time Dining). The MDR food was really good...for the first time in several cruises we actually ate EVERY night in the MDR.
Jamericannn Posted June 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2017 I have a strong feeling it will get the waterworks and serenity when it goes into drydock in September.
Hoosierpop Posted June 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2017 The BBQ over the lido was excellent. I really wish every ship had that. I liked the Conquest a lot. Don't have anything specific to add other than the BBQ. Definite upgrade over the fish and chips IMO. Sent from my iPad using Forums
tlw440 Posted June 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 17, 2017 In the top 3 of our favorite ships. We have cruised on the Conquest 3 times and have another booked next year.
bury me at sea Posted June 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2017 The Conquest was my first Carnival ship. I remember loving the Impressionist artwork. It was easy to navigate. Alas the Fish and Chips option above the Lido was my very favorite thing about her. Fond memories.

BTromboneFrack Posted June 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2017 Been on the Conquest twice. Some don't like the decor, but there is something to look at EVERYWHERE on the ship. The impressionistic motive is in every corner, and, to me, its fun. We've had a aft wrap both times we were on the ship, so we spent a bunch of time there. Loved the steakhouse. We noticed all staff members said hello to us and smiled when we saw them. Very friendly crew. The Conquest ships are great. Been on the Liberty and this Christmas we're on the Glory. SkyPiglet Posted June 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2017 I could be wrong here, but I believe Conquest now has a Seafood Shack (extra cost) option on Lido. I think it was opened LITERALLY the cruise after we cruised Conquest last summer. My memory is hazy here, but I think there was also a BBQ joint upstairs from the buffet where Fish and Chips used to be. Nothing fancy, just like pulled pork, etc for sandwiches. I could be getting my ships confused.
evandbob Posted June 18, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 18, 2017 I've been on the Conquest for 35 days, and the Conquest class is my most traveled type of ship. Great advice about the BBQ upstairs, nice staff on the ship as well. Here's a suggestion to avoid the photographers on deck 5 if you are in a hurry to go from the forward theater to the aft comedy club, or reverse, from the aft dining room to the casino or theater - use the 4th deck aisle off the midship casino elevators through the passageway that gets you to the lounge outside the aft MDR. However, use the 5th deck photo taking area to get to the Taste Bar for a quickie nosh when they are open. And while you didn't ask, the embarkation boarding process was delayed my last two times sailing from FLL.
mimxmom Posted June 18, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted June 18, 2017 Seafood Shack? Can anyone recent confirm this? Traveling in November so shortly after dry dock :-) Yes, I am interested in embarkation info....
justusfour2014 Posted June 18, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 18, 2017 We sailed this past March and loved the Conquest. Boarding was delayed until 11:45 but went smoothly (we thought). Crew were great, MDR was sooooooo slow (needs improvement), but overall was one of the best cruises we've had. Debarking was awful, slowest of any cruise we've taken so be prepared and have patience. Customs at Ft. Lauderdale are NOT in a hurry. Get the mibile passport app and you will bypass the lines. j3000 Posted June 19, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 19, 2017 just got off the 'quest yesterday. had Fun trying to figure out how to get around that 'no access' zone on Deck 3. (hint: you have to go up & over on Deck 5, or down & under on Deck 2) Loved the LONG lineups trying to get ON & OFF that boat. other than that she was prob. OK :) :)

vacruisin Posted June 19, 2017 #15 Share Posted June 19, 2017 We love the Conquest. It is our favorite ship. All the 2.0 upgrade without all the hoopla that the bigger, newer ships get. Perfect for us. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Pellaz Posted June 20, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 20, 2017 Seafood Shack? Can anyone recent confirm this? Traveling in November so shortly after dry dock :-) Yes, I am interested in embarkation info.... Yes, it's on Lido Deck aft, on the opposite side from Pizza Pirate (so, starboard side), with an a la carte menu and pricing. It was installed right around the same time they installed Ol' Fashioned BBQ on Deck 10 above and took the place of a seldom-used late-night snack spot. We've had a aft wrap both times we were on the ship, so we spent a bunch of time there. We had an extended aft balcony (not a wrap) and we loved it. Nice thing about those, as compared to Royal's aft balconies, is that you have a view unobstructed by fairing and metal structures like on the back of some Royal ships. We noticed all staff members said hello to us and smiled when we saw them. Very friendly crew. The Conquest ships are great. Been on the Liberty and this Christmas we're on the Glory. Have to agree here; the staff on Conquest was generally among the best we've had on any line. Our MDR crew was especially awesome, as was the bartender at the aft bar by Pizza Pirate. Let's just say that both "took care of us" well. :)
paigemorgan Posted June 21, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 21, 2017 I have read stories about the long delay on embarkation day. I am about to book our flights home, what is the earliest we can be off the ship?

shortyjoesmith Posted June 21, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Unless something has changed since I sailed her last, on deck 9 all the way forward, there is a door to the front of the ship. We delighted being up there where it was quiet to enjoy the views on sail away. We also caught a few sunsets up there. Beautiful!

Pellaz Posted June 21, 2017 #24 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Regarding getting off the ship, I wouldn't book return flights any time before noon. Port Everglades is notorious for being slow to get through Customs. Unless something has changed since I sailed her last, on deck 9 all the way forward, there is a door to the front of the ship. We delighted being up there where it was quiet to enjoy the views on sail away. We also caught a few sunsets up there. Beautiful! Those doors to the "secret decks" forward are still there. I think every Conquest-class ship has them. Really cool, but it can get quite windy up there.
cruziJenn Posted June 22, 2017 #25 Share Posted June 22, 2017 We sailed Conquest in 2015 and my opinion is "mixed"....the crew were absolutely great and the CS desk even sent us a free bottle of wine (can't remember what for now lol) but MOST special about that cruise was the live band in the atrium at least 5 nights I think....made it the danciest week that I've ever had :-)) .... and nice spacious uncrowded smoking area down on deck 3 or 4? where the crew could take their smoke breaks. I love being able to chat with various crew members especially from other countries and as I remember the Conquest crew they were probably my favorite thus far. Other than those great things the ship seemed a little old and a little darker than most or something. And MDR was not the best tho by far not the worst either. But I would certainly sail her again no question.
