would like info on how to get to cruise port from san marco? thanks to all

If you are referring to the Marco Polo Airport, it is very easy. Just walk outside the exit of the terminal and grab a regular land taxi. It will take you right to the port. Not positive about the current cost but its approximately 40€. If you are talking about St Marks Square (San Marco) you can take the #1 or #2 Vaporetto to the Piazale Roma dock...and then walk across the square to the People Mover...which will take you to the port. An alternative from St Marks Square is to use the Alilaguna directly to the port.

Alilaguna (water bus). Water taxi. Walk.

Hank- there is a land taxi to/from St Marks?

No, there are absolutely no land options (other then walking) from the St Marks area. The only place on Venice where there are land taxi or bus options are at the Piazale Roma. Keep in mind that, in Venice, the main form of transportation are the Vaporettos (also sometimes called ACTV) which are essentially the water buses. You can go just about anywhere around Venice or to any of the other islands (i.e. Burano, Murano, Torcello, Lido, etc) using the Vaporetto system. You can purchase a single ticket or timed tickets (24, 48, 72.....hrs) at any Vaporetto stop (some only have vending machines and others also have ticket offices). You will also hear about the Alilaguna....which is a private company operating boats similar to the Vaporettos. But tickets are not interchangable (between Vaporettos and Alilaguna) and the Alilaguna has fewer routes (although they do include a route to and from the airport).

If you elect to take the Vaparetto, I suggest you try to NOT take it at rush hour....while they now are set up so it is easy to roll your bags on and off (unlike when I was in college (way back when) and the deck of the vaparetto was always higher or lower than the dock. Now for handicapped purposes, they are level-ish - they still can be very crowded and getting on and off with a bag(s) can be hard.
