joepeka Posted June 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2017 I was looking at some of the Carnival excursions in Amber Cove and in the description of the "City Sights, Playa Dora Beach and Fun Trikke Ride", it mentions the following: Note: Pregnant guests, those with neck/back not recommended to participate. I have both a neck and a back so I guess I shouldn't consider this excursion?? :D
meatloafsfan Posted June 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2017 that's funny. The lack of one word changes the meaning completely.
HawkIVette Posted June 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2017 I think it's just a good thing you're not pregnant too. 3 strikes and you are definitely out.

joepeka Posted June 21, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted June 21, 2017 that's funny. The lack of one word changes the meaning completely. Sometimes I wonder if there is much in the way of proof reading or editing when it comes to things like this. I'll bet no more than a couple of days ever go by that I don't see some bad grammatical errors or word omissions on legitimate news web sites or even in our local newspaper. Maybe there's an employment opportunity for me in this?? ;)
SadieN Posted June 22, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2017 The lack of an Oxford comma lost a case. Too bad we don't teach this in the States. https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/03/16/us/oxford-comma-lawsuit.html?referer=https://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0SO81SWJktZ1o0AnChx.9w4;_ylu=X3oDMTE0MGIxMGUyBGNvbG8DZ3ExBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDVUkyRkJUM18xBHNlYwNzcg--/RV=2/RE=1498126102/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.nytimes.com%2f2017%2f03%2f16%2fus%2foxford-comma-lawsuit.html/RK=1/RS=NN9Dz4yW.Yc6g0Ndxby0PXLPo6w- Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I was taught in high school (maybe it was elementary school) NOT to use that Oxford comma but apparently there are times when it should be used.... or else! ;)
