Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted July 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) Greetings Everyone, Just returned from the Norwegian Jade after a wonderful 15 day trip (2 days in Berlin and 2 days in Hamburg before boarding the Jade for 12 days) and would be happy to answer any questions. First off the Norwegian Fjords are beautiful. They reminded me of cruising around Kauai and other Hawaiian Islands and have attached a few quick images. We lucked out with the weather and enjoyed several days of the "midnight sun" without seeing the sun set. The new Jade is beautiful and they did a wonderful job. My friend and I shared a ocean view cabin and were pleased to see they added several power outlets and USB ports by the bed. Our friends were in one of the Garden Villas and they did a wonderful job on those also. The carpet in the living areas was removed with great stone/tile floors. Service was some of the best I have had at sea. If you have Cagney's breakfast, lunch or go for dinner make sure you get Genavive (spelling might be wrong) since he was one of the best Servers I have ever had at sea. Zach who runs the steakhouses did a wonderful job also. The casino staff ensured our drinks were always full and provided smiles and help whenever needed. WARNING: The Jade slot machines are tight, very very tight, probably the tightest I have encountered. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will be happy to start answering them! I would do this same exact itin again in a heartbeat. James best free photo upload sites Edited July 5, 2017 by ohioNCLcruiser
LeesaB Posted July 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2017 Too bad photobucket is charging for 3rd party hosting now.. I can't see anything! Curious about the age bracket onboard. How many kids were there?
Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted July 5, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted July 5, 2017 Oh no! Does anyone have another way I can upload the images to here? The photos are the best part! Our cruise had around 2700 passengers with around 2,000 Germans, 300 Americans and the rest was a mix with minimal kids.

Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted July 6, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Glorious photos! Thank you so much for sharing. We are leaving on the 30th but have one week pre-cruise in Amsterdam and one week post-cruise in London. I am trying to pack light and unsure about the weather. For Norway during the day I am planning on jeans with long sleeve t-shirts with a Northface fleece over the top. Do you think this will be warm enough (I realize no one can predict the weather, just trying to get an idea). I have an excellent rain shell for an added top layer. How about the evenings, how cold was it on the Jade? Warm enough for open toe sandals? Finally, what about outside on the Jade during the day and at night. How much were you bundled while the ship was at sea? PS: We have two nights reserved at Cagneys and I will positively ask for Genevive. Did any of the bartenders stand out? What about the happenings at night on the Jade? Any cruise compasses?? :) :) :)
shipfriend_max Posted July 8, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 8, 2017 Hello, and thank you for your review. :) We've been on NCL Jade last year and really liked her. The Atrium Café used to serve complimentary snacks such as cakes or cookies. Sadly in some other reports and blogs I read there's no complimentary snacks anymore, you need to buy them now? Hopefully that's not true...

Mid cruise I was always walking around in a small down jacket outside, even in the sun. The ship itself had a very comfortable temperature so inside open toe sandals will be fine but certainly not outside. I was able to wear shorts the day after leaving Hamburg but wore jeans for the rest of the trip. The bar tenders in the Mojito bar were great. Due to the ship being mainly German we found if we left even just $1 tip extra in cash with the drinks they took care of you.

I noticed that a Costa and Viking ship docked on the other side of town however I would expect you to dock where we did. From the shuttle they have little arrows and circles leading you to the city center. About a 10-15 min easy stroll and you will be near the fish market. It rained while we were there but it was enjoyable. It's a shame the weather was bad for us because I think it was our favorite city to walk around. old nutter Posted July 10, 2017 #18 Share Posted July 10, 2017 There are two possible areas the ship docks in Bergen. One is pretty well in the town area which was where we moored and the other is about a mile away in the docks. If you end up in the docks there is shuttle bus to the centre. The town is a very pretty, bustling area and is great for wandering through. Main attraction is the Funicular up the Floyen mountain to a huge viewpoint that looks over the whole city. There are usually long queues to buy tickets but if you buy them on-line at: https://floibanen.skiperformance.com/shop/en/store then you can just walk to the right of the queue and go right up to the station gates. The return price is about 9UKP ($12 or so). You can pay by credit card.
lilyen311 Posted July 10, 2017 #19 Share Posted July 10, 2017 I won all the money in the casino during our cruise last month. Hit for $4000 and $4500. But I was playing the $5 slots.... just loved our Norwegian cruise...Bergen was spectacular! Ate at the fish market--was quite yummy! Loved everything on the ship! Aimee192 Posted July 19, 2017 #21 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Hi, Sorry if this is a silly question but I'll be cruising for the first time in a few months (on Jade) and was wondering if the Arrive and Depart date on the itineraries on myNCL website take into account the 2 hour disembarkation wait (and if this is correct, that there's a 2 hour wait between docking and disembarkation) and 2 hours ahead of departure that guests have to be on board. Because if not, I need to shave 4 hours off of our plans. Thank you :)

Callimero Posted July 19, 2017 #23 Share Posted July 19, 2017 ...that there's a 2 hour wait between docking and disembarkation) and 2 hours ahead of departure that guests have to be on board... For the embarkation and disbarkation date it's quite easy: If the sailaway time it's scheduled for 4pm, you should be in the departure terminal at 2pm latest, 1:30 to be on the safe side. If your arrival time is scheduled for 8am, you should be able to leave the ship at 8am. (Carry-on passengers first) But please be aware that in some ports like Tampa or NOLA fog can always play an important role [emoji854] The other ports on your trip: like Keith already stated. Hope that helps...

Thanks again.
