My boyfriend is a huge whisky drinker. Fancy scotch and all that. So, you can get shots valued up to $50, but is there actually any good, expensive scotch to get? If so, what bars did you find this at?

Obviously if there is something worth sampling, he would like to do so. But he has his brands, JWR or JW Black don't cut it for him. He prefers Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Oben, Macallan- and preferably aged 20+ years. But assuming they obviously won't have exactly what he drinks at home, I'm looking for something comparable

True scotch drinkers typically have their brands. They aren't mooches and say "give me the most expensive scotch you have". Someone who drinks JWR stays with JWR...Chivas drinkers drink Chivas. Etc

Sent from my iPad using Forums

why are they "mooches?" if they buy the package that's their right to buy any drink they want that's covered under that package

maybe they want to try something new or get something they might not be able to afford at home

either way there's no need for the lame insult

I know there is Glen Livet, Glenfiddich, and McCallan as I am a single malt person as well. I don't recall seeing anything others as I am pretty particular about brands and once I see what I want, don't shop the shelf!

If they have a steakhouse on the ship go to the steakhouse bar. You do not have to eat to go to the bar. They will have the top of the line drinks and also try the Alchemy bar. The alchemy doesn't do shot but the drinks are the best on the ship.

In the casino this is the top-shelf they get for me.

Hennessy Privilege VSOP has a smooth but stronger flavor with heavier wood on nose. VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) is a blend of 60 different eau de vie with the oldest being 15 years, and the youngest 4-5 years. It is aged for up to 15 years in French oak, giving it a deeper, richer color and oak notes on the nose and palate, but also lending more complexity to the spice and grape notes. Because the flavors are more balanced and mature, VSOP can stand alone neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of soda.

Cheers and happy cruising!

They definitely have The Glenlivet and Macallan. I think Glenfiddich as well. I don't know about the 20+ year part. I think they were more like 12. The steakhouse may have something better.

First...Fireball is NOT Whiskey, it's a flavored contraption geared toward people who don't drink whiskey. If you BF is truly a whiskey person, he wouldn't touch the stuff.

So, for the single malt scotches, in addition to the ones mentioned already, Carnival bars sometimes carry Macallan Select Oak (the highest single price I've seen) and Bowmore 12yr. Also Ardberg 10 yr.

Bourbons and Whiskies are Marker Mark, Jack-Black, Jim Beam, Crown Royal , Canadian Club, Jameson, Dewars, and Cutty Sark.

They have Hardy's XO and VSOP cognacs, Courvoiser VSOP and Remy Martin VSOP.

The ship's liquor store carries Hennessy White, but I don't recall it in the bars.
