GatorMomInNC Posted July 15, 2017 #26 Share Posted July 15, 2017 As per another post you will find the touristy things open on August that their best money earning time , its commerce etc that goes into August mode. We live on the Med and it will be hot in August sometimes up to 40c, not sure what that is in Fahrenheit but it's hot . The tourist love it but we stay in with the AC on until around 5pm then cool in the pool. If you are Sun worshippers that great but intensive excursions could take there toll . Hope that helps Hello we are cruising on the Epic, Mediterranean cruise on September 10. Do you think the crowds will be gone by then? Not much we can do about the weather of course. zqvol Posted July 15, 2017 #28 Share Posted July 15, 2017 I was booked on a Panama Canal cruise on the Sun which is not an option now that the sun is relocated to Caribbean. Soo being a man of action I hunted and booked a cruise to western Mediterranean embarking in Rome.I was very very excited about my choice until I discovered that the Month of August in europe is Vacation time and most places shut down for the whole month. Is this true? Should I change my time to September? Like the mad hatter..what to do, what to do. Very little, if anything will be shut down in tourist areas. That is the busiest travel month of the year in that part of the world. It will be packed and anything you are likely to want will be open, probably even extra hours. Sauer-kraut Posted July 15, 2017 #29 Share Posted July 15, 2017 Hello we are cruising on the Epic, Mediterranean cruise on September 10. Do you think the crowds will be gone by then? Not much we can do about the weather of course. There will be fewer Americans..... but some European countries are still out of school but I wouldn't sweat it. It will still be warm (hot) in most of the ports and the weather will be lovely! Have a great trip :D

GLYNAGP Posted July 16, 2017 #32 Share Posted July 16, 2017 Hello we are cruising on the Epic, Mediterranean cruise on September 10. Do you think the crowds will be gone by then? Not much we can do about the weather of course. We like September as it normally has started to cool down a little. Certainly the British School Summer Holiday finishes that week and we do notice a reduction in visitors where we live in Spain and you will probably find that refelected on your cruise. I'm sure you will enjoy all the ports of call Glyn
