riclop Posted August 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2017 They have a sandwich place and indian food , pizza and a chicken venue on deck 10 aft.
SadieN Posted August 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2017 Only the buffet is open BUT not all sections are self serve. The deli and pizza are handed to you. The place upstairs from the buffet (think it now BBQ?) and the Tandoor by the aft pool are not as well known, hence not as crowded or sneezed on, at the beginning of the cruise. This question was answered on your post last week.
SMSACE6 Posted August 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) unfortuneatlely on embarkation day, lunch time there is only the lido buffet food for lunch but also there are some other lido deck options for food, ie as others have mentioned tandoor, if you like Indian food or ethnic food. The deli which is also on lido buffet deck is also available and if you dont like to do buffet, the deli does offer some decent deli sandwich offerings. But sorry for embarkation day, lunch, there are only limited options.. on my last cruise which was on Splendor there was a separate buffet area above the the lido buffet, and being on deck 10. and it was quite good, but since my cruise last September it is now called something different, but along the line of of barbecure, buffet etc. so cannot offer opinions on the latests options on Splendor since then. but even though the offerings are limited on boarding day, it is just that one day, and only if you happen to board early enough to enjoy lunch on that boarding day and boardng tinme enough. SadieN Posted August 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2017 To make your cruise experience more enjoyable.... Princess has its MDR open at Embarkation til 1-1:30. Most ships have an International Cafe where food is handed to you. It is open 24/7, even on port days. Princess and Carnival do practically the same itins out of LA, Carnival out of Long Beach, Princess 7 miles away sailing out of San Pedro. The newer Carnival ships have a few places that serve lunches at embarkation.
deborahjo Posted August 5, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2017 The Splendor also had the Mongolian Wok. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
teknoge3k Posted August 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2017 The BBQ place is my favorite. So many (new) people don't even know about it until the end of the cruise, if they ever find it. Less people, great food, and a place to actually sit!
coevan Posted August 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2017 To answer the OP, there is no place with waiter service, it's all standing and waiting

Sent from my iPhone using Forums Be aware Carnival no longer offers lunch in the main dining room (on any ship) except on sea days when they offer Sea Day Brunch. On embarkation day, you're pretty limited to the buffet, and specifically on Splendor, buffet, Ol' Fashioned BBQ, Mongolian wok, deli, pizza, and room service.. Cyber Kat Posted August 5, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 5, 2017 The Splendor also had the Mongolian Wok.
