janmcn Posted August 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2017 (edited) If you are leaving Invergorden after a port call, make SURE to watch your sendoff by the locals...they almost always (even in the rain in our case) have a local piper and pipe and drum group serenade you as you leave...it will begin after the gangway is drawn up and all are aboard...watch for the lone piper come down the quay...then...the group behind...it's wonderful!!! We would not have known about it if our guide we had for the day hadn't warned us that it would occur. https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-Lrj3q5/i-CwZ25Gw/A Not sure if the above will load for you, but it's a tiny bit Edited August 13, 2017 by janmcn added link to video

Reagan0712 Posted August 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2017 (edited) The group in your video was, if I recall correctly, on the dock when we arrived. When we departed we had the local high school band come down for us. Really nice. They marched up the road and into the parking area. joekerstef Posted August 13, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 13, 2017 Haven't been there for a while, thanks Roy! Does the town crier still show up in St. George? Wow, I was just in Bermuda on Veendam in May and we didn't get that kind of sendoff! Not sure about when a ship docks in St. George, but we enjoyed the town crier tremendously for the wench dunking at noon.
