MDgal76 Posted August 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Hubs and I will be on the Dream next August and we love good food! I've read great reviews for the Chef's table and the Steak house. Would you chose one over the other or splurge and do both?

mdsgu Posted August 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Definitely the Steakhouse. The Chef's Table is a toss-up. I've done it on Royal Caribbean, and it was very nice, but Carnival charges more (I guess because you get a galley tour).
Micahs Grandad Posted August 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Both are very good but chefs table is more special
samiam0403 Posted August 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2017 I would book both - they're totally different experiences, but both do have (typically) excellent food. We paid $75 pp for the Chef's Table a few weeks ago, but I'm guessing the Dream has the new menu and higher price? Even at $95, I would still book it. And the steakhouse on the first night is a great way to kick off the cruise (and get 50% off an amazing bottle of wine!).
mela921 Posted August 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2017 We had a wonderful Chef's Table experience on Carnival Liberty, however last Nov we did a Chef's table on the Dream and were not impressed.... The steakhouse has always been fantastic!

UKWildcatCruiser Posted August 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2017 My problem with the Chefs Table is the duration. 3 hours? I can't sit still that long. I canceled our CT res after hearing that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Siora7777 Posted August 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2017 I'm doing both on my upcoming cruise. I'm on vacation.
Turqoisblu Posted August 23, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 23, 2017 We plan to do both also. Once we know what night the chef table is on then we will still try to get a reservation for the steakhouse. Like Siora7777 said "I'm on vacation". wingnt68 Posted August 24, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2017 On the chefs table is it a "menu selection" that you get to choose or is it "what they give you". I am somewhat of a picky eater and I am curious about the menu.

The Chef will make substitutions if you note allergies or preferences, such as vegetarian, beforehand.
A&Jfamily Posted August 24, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 24, 2017 If cruising with just DH, we would do both. If our boys are along, we pass on CT and only do Steakhouse. At 13 and 19 they are old enough to appreciate a good steak but not yet adventurous enough for the gourmet tastes of CT.

I think I will stick to the steakhouse.

This is part of why I have passed on Chef's table. I do not eat lamb, venison, veal, duck, or seafood (except shrimp and lobster). I feel like I would be rude to just skip a course because of this, so I only do steakhouse.

I don't eat chocolate, so I get a different dessert...and not the ones from the MDR...
