cruiser1955 Posted September 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2017 P&O confirmed today (26 Sept 2017) We can now confirm that small ship Adonia will be leaving the fleet next year. The sale will be completed in March 2018 and Adonia's last cruise as a P&O Cruise...s ship will be D804 leaving Barbados on February 23 and ending in Barbados on March 9, 2018. Guests booked on any Adonia cruises after March 2018 will be contacted directly either by P&O Cruises or their travel agent in the next few days. We know this has been the subject of much speculation but as we are sure you can appreciate we were unable to confirm anything until an agreement was in place. During her time with us Adonia has captured the hearts of many thousands of P&O Cruises guests. She has ventured into new ports of call around the globe and has negotiated Icelandic Fjords, European rivers and Caribbean coves. We will be making sure that these discovery itineraries are continued on other ships in the fleet. With almost six months until Adonia leaves the fleet, we will ensure that each of the cruises in her final season with us are extra special and celebratory. cruiser1955 Posted September 26, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted September 26, 2017 As Haworth has said, looks like Azamara This is from their website MIAMI, September 26, 2017 – Azamara Club Cruises®, the upmarket cruise line subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., announced today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase a sister ship to Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, with delivery taking place in March 2018. We are pleased to expand our portfolio by 50%, allowing us to visit even more regions of the world through the acquisition of this sister ship,” said Larry Pimentel, President and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises®. “Our loyal guests and travel partners have asked for this expansion for a long time; we are very pleased to deliver this to them.” The new addition, the Azamara Pursuit, is comparable in size to the Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest. As such, it will also allow visits to unique ports that larger ships are unable to reach. Together, the three ships will support the brand’s commitment to enrich destination immersion around the world, by staying longer in port to allow guests to experience more. tassietravellers Posted September 26, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Booked D812, luckily we hadnt booked flights from Australia, that was happening this week, ohh its so sad, was hoping it was all just rumours. Hopefully we are all offered some sort of compensation or incentive, that will decide if its another P&O cruise we book or another company. The cruises have gone from their web site now :loudcry::loudcry::loudcry:
trickyoat Posted September 26, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Very backward step sadly from P&O. The size of Adonia was ideal for out of the way ports, Seville among others, this means Oriana becomes the smallest vessel in the fleet at 69,000GRT. Can you honestly say she will creep into narrow sounds and boutique ports around the globe?
sueandphil Posted September 26, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Was really looking forward to sailing on her again for the TA in October 2018. Should have swapped our Britannia TA this year to Adonia when we heard she was coming back. Hope we are well compensated with an incentive to re book with P&O. Already looking at Viking now though Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Eglesbrech Posted September 26, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 26, 2017 I really feel for anyone affected by this. I think it is unfair that P&O have been giving quasi assurance to passengers when they were aware that the ship was going. I hope that they are generous to those affected, particulalry anyone who has flights and hotels etc purchased to get to cruises that are now cancelled. Zombatar Posted September 26, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 26, 2017 It will be interesting to see what they offer us as we already had £1000 obc for Adonia next September. If the are going to mess us about that will be that end after many, many P&O cruises. Peter and Jenny
Zombatar Posted September 26, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 26, 2017 Just read the P&O terms and conditions and it would appear that P&O do not have to give any compensation for cancellations that take place more than 90 days from when you are informed about it. As our cruise is next September that means nothing for us except a refund. Are we surprised ....no not really!! Peter and Jenny

woodlander1 Posted September 26, 2017 #20 Share Posted September 26, 2017 We used to cruise with P&O and our last really good cruise was on Adonia to the Norwegian Fjords in 2012. It was excellent. A subsequent trip on Oriana put us right off P&O and we have since cruised with Azamara so delighted that Adonia will be joining the Quest & Journey as Azamara Pursuit. :D

I think some of the lines that offer these coves and rivers will do very well out of this. People may not rebook with P&O and if they try another company and like it then they may never return. Did you propose Bigbertha as the name for the new ship then, wonder if they will select that one, it's certainly memorable and ends in the ubiquitous "a" 😉
