knitdiva Posted October 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Hello to everyone reading this. We are in the process of getting ready for ou Mother/Son cruise in November on Allure of the Seas. My sister told me her son is dead set on wearing a tux for the formal nights. His mom (my sister) is an amazing mother to 4 kids under the age of 9, she is a gifted surgeon, she is involved in her community (she organized a summer camp for the kids in her community last summer). Her older son (9) is my godson and I really want to make the tux happen for him. He was born with part of a foot missing, wears a prosthetic foot and is very, very brave. I am very prood of him and my sister. Nobody would know he had any health issue looking at him as he is involved in sports, school, teaching other kids amputees how to deal with their differences. We can't rent a tux from RCCL as he is not yet big enough to fit in a man's tux. They live in a small town in Canada away from big box chains who might be able to sell and tailor a tux for him. If anyone has any suggestion to make this dream happen for him, I would be a very grateful auntie. I would attempt sewing one but he lives 500 miles away. Thanks. cantwait2cruize Posted October 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2017 Thrift stores, Kiji. What small town are you from? I live in Canada too, I go to thrift stores often. (it's my favorite past time) If I find one I'll mail it to you.
Hoyaheel Posted October 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Resale from a rental store - there are often warehouses and/or warehouse sales. If you found one , could you get his measurements to try to tailor or is there someone in his town who could do final tailoring?
luvscruising2007 Posted October 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2017 I bought a tux on line. Maybe google child's tux and see what is available. The idea of checking out a warehouse is good. Also, check any tuxedo rental company. Good luck with your search. I am sure he will be adorable in his tux.
geocruiser Posted October 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2017 I would look on line. If you can't find one then how about getting a fancy bow tie and matching hanky to put in his suit jacket. You could try to 'fancy up" the clothes that he has. A flower on his jacket.

Alaskanb Posted October 10, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Where do bridal parties get their tuxes from in his town? Also check on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Boys-Tuxedo-Black-Dresswear-Size/dp/B00DNJFJV0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1507662779&sr=8-2&keywords=boys%2Btuxedo%2Bsuit&th=1&psc=
Froufie Posted October 10, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Just a note that Amazon often does not ship to Canada - you have to find the right seller! :(
Alaskanb Posted October 10, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Just a note that Amazon often does not ship to Canada - you have to find the right seller! :( Oops missed that the OP was also in Canada. Perhaps the OP can do a Google search for Boys Tuxedo Canada. I found this one https://www.adorable-kids.com/Boys-Tuxedos-s/9748.htm I think Walmart also does boys suits. shipgeeks Posted October 11, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 11, 2017 I third the thought about thrift stores. Our town has an online site called Nextdoor, on which people post items they have or want (much more local than craigslist). If you have anything like that, it might be a worthwhile query. I imagine some youngster took part in a wedding, got a tuxedo, and has now outgrown it. You never know! Best of luck. It's really cool that he wants it. Maybe he will grow up to be as debonair as my DH and all the other men in tuxedoes that I love to see on cruises.
