noah53 Posted October 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Do you have to put your carry-on bag thru a luggage scanner before boarding? Is there size restriction for carry-on bag?
easyboy Posted October 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Yes. It should fit the scanner like in the airport. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
NantahalaCruiser Posted October 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2017 It must go through a scanner - if it will go through a TSA airport scanner it will fit through the ship's scanner.
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2017 As others said it should fit the type of scanner you see at the airport. Keith
EatonDoolittle Posted October 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2017 I have successfully rolled on my suitcase in Port Everglades, Port Canaveral and Tampa. It measures 24" high, 11" deep and 18" wide. It's hard side, and there is not much room to spare as it goes through the scanner, but it goes. Never been hassled or questioned by staff. Hope this helps. I now roll on for anything 7 days or less, and I find it quite liberating to be unpacked and enjoying a cocktail before others have even gotten their bags. noah53 Posted October 21, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted October 21, 2017 (edited) thanks, looks like 22 x 14 x 9 is most common size allowed. We have a 24 x 16 x 10, hope we can squeeze it thru scanner. Edited October 21, 2017 by noah53
SargassoPirate Posted October 22, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 22, 2017 I often roll my full-sized suitcase on and off the ship rather than wait for bag delivery to my stateroom. I have had some over-zealous shore-side staff try to tell me that I had to check it, but I tell them it will fit AND that I can lift it on and off the scanner belt without assistance. If they push it, I ask to speak to a supervisor. I've even had some fun with the over-zealous staff by asking if they downsized their scanners since the last time I was through this particular port because it fit through before. From conversations with those supervisors, the rub is the person who wants to roll his/her suitcases onto the ship and then gets to the scanner and can't lift it onto the belt. That just holds everything and everybody else up.
Rare ggo85 Posted October 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2017 Any bag that you could carry on to an airplane should work. Remember that you'll be carrying it around the ship until about 1:30, so consider what you really need. Key items are valuables such as electronics and jewelry as well as medicine. Some folks bring bathing suits, etc. so they can get some sun before large bags are delivered.
noah53 Posted October 24, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted October 24, 2017 We are birders so need space for our scope/tripod, binoculars and camera, that's what takes up so much space, won't forget my bathing suit for afternoon swim.

See above post - if the 24 x 18 x 11 made it through, then you should have no problem.
