luchy Posted October 22, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2017 We are booked on Insignia from New York to Miami. Has Oceania given any information on possible changes to the published itinerary, especially for Antigua and St Barts? I have checked their website but there is no change there. Thanks

arima22 Posted October 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2017 You should put this question on your Roll Call for this cruise to see what information your fellow cruisers have received. go to: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2504294
tarzana traveler Posted October 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2017 We're also on the Oct. 30 cruise. As of this morning however, the CC update on Port status indicates St. Bart's is still closed. I have previously posted the St. Bart's question on the Cruise's roll call. O says we are going there, but there are continuing mixed signals.
Rare LHT28 Posted October 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2017 found this report https://www.caribjournal.com/2017/09/22/st-barth-2-0-moving-ahead-island-continues-recovery/#
Travelcat2 Posted October 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2017 All of the articles I found on St. Barths are from almost a month ago. Hoping that they will be open to cruise ships but only time will tell (we are due to be there mid-November).
tarzana traveler Posted October 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 23, 2017 found this reporthttps://www.caribjournal.com/2017/09/22/st-barth-2-0-moving-ahead-island-continues-recovery/# Thanks for your input. I've seen this post, however it is dated "09/22/2017" which is over a month ago. Again, today's CC post in the news section (the latest info I could find) still lists St. Bart's as closed. Torquer Posted October 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 23, 2017 The following website seems to have a pretty comprehensive status of the recovery of St. Barts. Read it bottom to top, for a good perspective on the recovery. https://www.stbarth.com/hurricane-irma It seems pretty positive...maybe too positive. Time will tell...we are going there in January. tarzana traveler Posted November 5, 2017 #11 Share Posted November 5, 2017 We'll know on Nov. 5th when we are scheduled to be there. I'll post the answer on this thread then. Today is Nov. 5 and we did arrive in St.Bart's this morning. We were the second ship to arrive since the hurricane. However it is Sunday and almost everything including most stores and the hotels are closed. Little to do, probably would have been smarter for O to have changed the itinerary to a different port. The island seems to be recovering and should be in better shape in the near future for those of you going there later this year or early net year. sitraveler Posted November 7, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 7, 2017 I've called on St Bart's on a Sunday, before the damage. Almost everything was closed then too. The ATM worked, and euros were down. That's all I bought.
Floridiana Posted November 7, 2017 #13 Share Posted November 7, 2017 If you expect St. Bart to be shopping paradise, you will be disappointed. Even when the shops are open, we never bought more than a bottle of water and a few postcards and stamps. 3 decades ago, we vacationed there before it became a billionaire's island. It was somewhat affordable for a young couple with a child who learned to windsurf.. But how did downtown look like after the storm? Pictures show intact red roofs in Gustavia. How about the trees? Did you go to any of the beaches?
tarzana traveler Posted November 20, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 20, 2017 We took a van tour around the island. Saw many uprooted trees, open and damaged roofs, etc. Damage seemed worse in some areas than others. Saw very little damage in Gustavia on the streets at the pier. Did not go to the beach. Almost all the hotels were still closed.
