It is a bit more complicated than that. We do not get cash back from "most" OBC's provided by our TA. Hope that someone else can give the specifics (almost all of the OBC's we've had over the years are use it or lose it so I've become an expert on spending it.:halo:

Same with us, we get whatever OBC from the cruise line that we spend--likely $500.00, then we check a check back from the TA when we get home. Rick

We received a $200 on board credit and a $500 amex card. However, we were told that we could not use the OBC for anything related to the casino. Perhaps, it is different from ship to ship. I ended up buying a nice purse in the gift shop--bonus!

Since moving to a US based TA we have received a rebate check and OBC. The rebate check comes with out final documents and the OBC we mostly spend on laundry and maybe the odd thing in the gift shop.

No specifics. Not complicated. Very simple. Our TAs (we use two depending on the cruise line) always offer either a rebate or OBC (refundable) or combination of both, plus the nonrefundable $300 Amex platinum amenity. On a recent 28 day Silversea cruise, we received $5000 plus the platinum $300. We used some of it for shore excursions, medical clinic, specialty wines, spa, but still wound up cashing out $2000 at the end of the cruise.
