Goofymom3 Posted November 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2017 a little background....back in May my MIL gifted us with the cash to pay for this cruise. Last week she passed away. So when we set sail in three weeks it will be on our last gift from her. Should I or should I not do something for my husband...I.e. send something to our room? I wouldn’t know what would be a good idea. Thoughts? What would you do?

NMLady Posted November 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2017 When we took a trip with money from his mother who died before the trip, we raised a glass of wine in a toast to her and discussed some happy memories of her.
newmexicoNita Posted November 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2017 I agree with NMLady, a toast to your mom in law and/or maybe one extra nice dinner at a specialty dining room in her honor.

BellaBaci4 Posted November 7, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2017 How about a special photo album to present after your toast. They are so easy to make with all the photo sites.:)
garycarla Posted November 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2017 A toast would be nice. A snack delivered to room. As a man married for many years, I know what I would like as something special. Nobody has to ask me......
djpk2003 Posted November 7, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2017 The toast, photo album, and specialty dinner are all nice ideas. Just be sure to make the extra effort to be there for him, in whatever way he needs it. His emotions might be all over the place on the cruise as his thoughts go to his mother and the recent loss. It's very sweet of you to be thinking of ways to make it extra special for him.
NUPDCOP Posted November 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2017 As a guy who isn't "mushy" I'd say do something like go for a drink at a bar on the ship - each order something that you would not normally try and then toast her and talk about her during that drink - share fun memories and how you know she would have wanted you to just have fun. I know that if my wife did that for me it would mean more than photos or anything else...
ramidon1 Posted November 7, 2017 #11 Share Posted November 7, 2017 Maybe he would enjoy a massage to relieve some of the stress of losing his Mom? My hubby would!
Goofymom3 Posted November 7, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted November 7, 2017 I think his Mom would be saying hit the Casino, that was her thing. I know it’s going to be a little sentimental and such. I just need for him to relax a bit. Drinks and slots in her honor would make her happy. I may suggest that to him.

Rare MrsTabs Posted November 7, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 7, 2017 Maybe take her favourite flower or flower petals on board and let them go over the side to say goodbye and thank you for the cruise
Chris J. Posted November 8, 2017 #15 Share Posted November 8, 2017 And I am not kidding about this..... Get some damn good, top quality marijuana in one of the ports and get stoned out of your minds and enjoy the beach. Mom wanted you to enjoy yourselves...life is short.
