Qstrom Posted November 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2017 We just got off the Imagination yesterday morning for the three night Ensenada run. We were a group of eight friends just enjoying time together. Embarkation was easy, Guy's burgers made a great first meal, and the Mexican place next to it made good breakfast burritos too. Overall food was quite good all over the ship, we're not crazy about the cabin cleaning policy now of only once per day. We chose mornings, he would usually get there around noon. We only asked for an ice bucket and never received one, he was over worked I would guess. Entertainment was great, two good comedians and the production shows were very good too. Alex the young cruise director was a lot of energy and fun. The ship is in good overall condition for what it is....1995 built. Good water temp but no pressure, we were in Main deck 163 inside cabin. bury me at sea Posted November 13, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Were you not offered morning, evening, or both for cabin service? I appreciate your report. If I lived close to a port I would jump on some shorter cruises.
Qstrom Posted November 13, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted November 13, 2017 We could have requested both morning and evening I suppose but the inference was chose one. He would make the towel animals in the morning when he cleaned the cabin.

He would make the towel animals in the morning when he cleaned the cabin. It's too bad you were led to believe that. You might point that out on your post-cruise survey. I'm glad you had a good experience otherwise, and thanks for your reply.

sunshinecruiser62 Posted November 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 13, 2017 When we sailed in January we were asked morning or night. When we asked further we were told the room stewards went from having 18 cabins to clean per day to 36 cabins per day.
S&S Cruisers 1983 Posted November 13, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Bummer...We are taking my mom on her first cruise this month and I was hoping she could experience all of the fun things that we enjoyed on a cruise, twice a day cabin service was one of them. I don't really care anymore, but I would have liked for her to have it once.

eponym Posted November 14, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Nice to hear you had a good cruise. Are you suggesting they are not coming in the evenings to do turn downs, when they clean and reset the cabin in morning after overnight? I'm not sure they ever fully cleaned our cabins a second time each day anyway. But they turned down and replaced towels and Ice as needed along with leaving announcements and paperwork for the next day each evening during dinner. We just got off the Imagination yesterday morning for the three night Ensenada run. We were a group of eight friends just enjoying time together. SadieN Posted November 14, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 14, 2017 Hey, I'm in M163 in January. Anything remarkable about the cabin or location? The only issue with that cabin is that you’ll get smoke from the Casino Bar. The midship elevator only goes to 9, with the Casino Bar smoking area next to the elevator lobby. Smoke travels down in the elevators and lingers about three cabins on either side of the elevator. Don’t know if the smoke can be smelled inside the cabin. Sillyjilly Posted November 14, 2017 #16 Share Posted November 14, 2017 This whole once-a-day cleaning just pisses me off. Why? I don't understand that. Do you really need your sheets turned down for you in order to enjoy your cruise? I mean no disrespect. I'm just trying to understand the anger. If that small thing helps keep the cruise prices down, then I'm all for it. :D

I'm happy to pay extra for better quality service.

I do not want towel animals, my room does not need vacuumed, or straightened up... all I want is turn down & make up service, with fresh towels, and emptying of the trash. If this can only be done once a day, then I will remove half of the auto gratuities for housekeeping, and then we are square. I certainly do not want service sacrificed to lower the price. Qstrom Posted November 14, 2017 Author #20 Share Posted November 14, 2017 The cabin had a good location for us.....as to the smoke.....no problems for us at all......once you go up to deck nine yes you'll smell the smoke from the casino bar......it was annoying. No issues with the cabin other than maybe low water pressure in the shower. You can ask for a turn down service.....we did not as our request even for an ice bucket went undone. If it's true they have so many cabins then it's unreasonable to expect the service we used to get.....Carnival needs to reduce this workload in my opinion. I love Fantasy class, and Imagination was my first with CCL. I really wish they would bring it back to the east coast, and swap with another ship. I don't if that will happen anytime soon though. I understand your comment about unreasonable to expect the same, however I feel it is unreasonable to expect the same level of gratuities as well. LisaT91403 Posted November 15, 2017 #22 Share Posted November 15, 2017 How early were you able to get on the ship? And how about debarkation time? I have never sailed CCL before...do I really need to pay that extra $50 to get on the ship early?

Have you chosen your Staggered Check in Time yet? Earliest choice in Long Beach is noon but you can check in earlier. Dome doors open at 11:30. We arrive around noon and there isn’t too much of a wait. All off is around 10am on debarkation day.
I Luv Crusin Posted November 15, 2017 #25 Share Posted November 15, 2017 You can tell steward you would like twice a day... They will not refuse I think they bank on the newbies not KNOWING that they will do morning and evening. Even so, our steward did our towel animals early, too. They have increased the number of cabins the steward deals with every day. I was disappointed at the disappearance of the "cruising" door hangers. Our first day at sea we were up and out by 7:30am. I came back around noon for a nap but our room hadn't been touched. I was grumpy because I had told him twice a day. Shortly after he knocked on the door and I explained that I had just come back. I left so they could clean and then napped. After that he came earlier! When we put the door hanger out that we were cruising we would come back mid-day to a cleaned room.
