Sparetiming Posted November 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I have searched RCI's website and the boards, but I do not see an answer to this question. Are you allowed to bring bottled water or cans of soda on board? In the carry on or delivered luggage? We usually cruise Carnival and they allow it in carry on only. Biker19 Posted November 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Officially no, but usually not enforced - carry on.
Clarea Posted November 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I have searched RCI's website and the boards, but I do not see an answer to this question. Are you allowed to bring bottled water or cans of soda on board? In the carry on or delivered luggage? We usually cruise Carnival and they allow it in carry on only. Both are technically prohibited, but usually allowed. We've had water in checked backage many times with no problems.
Sparetiming Posted November 26, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Thank you Clarea. What about sodas? Usuallt on Carnival I will pack one bag with a 12 pack of water and 2 12 packs of soda and carry it on so they can open and look at it. If you put it in checked bags, do they open them? Clarea Posted November 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Thank you Clarea. What about sodas? Usuallt on Carnival I will pack one bag with a 12 pack of water and 2 12 packs of soda and carry it on so they can open and look at it. If you put it in checked bags, do they open them? They may hold your checked bag in security and ask you to come down and open the bag to ensure it's not alcohol, but you should be OK with canned soda. They are much more likely to enforce the rules around Spring Break.
Sparetiming Posted February 12, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Thank you for you help. I will try and bring water for me and canned soda for my husband. Do you think it is more likely to be confiscated in checked bag or carry on. Not trying to be sneaky but I just don't like the taste of the ship's water and want some to take in ports. LeeW Posted February 12, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Saw water bottles with taped-on luggage tag in hallway on Vision out of Galveston last week.
Sparetiming Posted February 12, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Thanks Lee, so they didn't even put them in a suitcase? That is usually how we see it on Carnival, but I hears RC was strict about water and sodas.
Psycho and Barb Posted February 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2018 I have seen People slap a luggage tag on a case of water and soda when turn in their bags. Not sure if it makes it onboard or not but a cheap way to try Sent from my iPad using Forums
potsie57 Posted February 13, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Took a 12 pack of soda on the Serenade of the seas last month in our carry on...Security did make us open the suitcase so they could see what it was...
bradybunch7 Posted February 13, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Just brought on a case of water, with luggage tag taped to it on my cruise Feb 2. No issues, no hiding it.
Vegcurry Posted February 13, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 13, 2018 I took a carry on with small bottles of soda on to the Navigator in January. No problem I didn’t even have to open the case.

If it's in the checked luggage, you might have to go get your bag from security later, but you'll very likely be able to keep the soda/water. They just need to know the cans/bottles aren't alcoholic.
