Upgrade Question

I just got an email offer to upgrade my balcony to a higher deck or to the spa. Don't care for the higher deck offer, but the spa balcony is $142. A 7 day spa pass is $139 pp, so it's a pretty good deal. I just want to make sure I don't lose the OBC I've got from the original offer I booked under.

That's the problem I am having now with my upsell. Will I get to keep my obc? I want to upgrade but not lose it..;)

We got an upgrade offer today - $64 to move from deck 7 to deck 11 on Magic. While I would love that area, I had already looked into it and there were no cabins available with connecting balconies. We are traveling with friends and enjoy sitting out there together. Now if they were offering an upgrade to a suite for $64, I might be tempted.

We got offered an upgrade to one of the spa rooms on the Carnival Dream. Can you all tell me if that includes anything extra or what comes with the room please?

OP we have a spa cabin booked on the breeze in January. We have never had one before but our understanding is that the room decor is different and the room is stocked with some better shampoos and the like. Perhaps a fluffy robe or something. Of course the location in close proximity to the spa too. Perhaps someone with first hand knowledge will speak up.

I am a cruise newbie -- how do you get Carnival to contact you with an upgrade offer? Is there a list I can ask to be put on? or do they offer it only to former customers who are at an elite level? We have a oceanview cabin booked in February for the Caribbean. It's a busy time of year but there are still plenty of expensive balcony cabins + higher, still showing as available. I'd love to be offered one at a discount.

They have a computer that does the decision for upgrades. Make sure is marked will accept upgrades.

That's why its called the upgrade fairy.

The Spa cabins have softer tones. The bathroom products are all Elemis and much better than the regular cabins. You get a robe and slippers which we always wore to the spa. The Spa cabins on deck 11 and 12 are very quiet and close to the Serenity area

So, do the spa rooms come with a spa package? I’m a newbie so please explain!

Spa cabins give access to two guests in the room to the spa. The exception is if you booked a guarantee and you ended up with a spa room. Softer colors, big fluffy bathrobes and slippers too.

My wife noted that the $142 we're spending for the upgrade would be offset by her not being in the casino. That's pretty good logic if you ask me.

I don't know of any list. Last year I booked an OV and two days before sailing I got an upsell to a Balcony. We went gold on that sailing. Good thing I answered the phone. :)

Terminology - Upgrade is an offer to move to higher rated cabin free? Upsell is an offer that requires additional cash outlay for that better cabin?

I have had 1 upsell and 1 upgrade offer from Carnival over 34 cruises. Maybe because most of them were solo?

We had the same situation in April. Would have taken the deal but were booked in adjoining rooms with our friends and they didn't have two rooms available.
