MarkusDY Posted December 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2017 We're due to sail this Sunday (Christmas Eve) and flying with BA to join the Meraviglia. So far, I have no tickets of any description and now my booking has completely disappeared from the profile section on the website, even though I completed online check in ages ago and boughts drinks packages, dining upgrades etc! I'm really starting to wonder if I should bother packing now? Is this normal for MSC?

myfuzzy Posted December 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2017 Really helpful, thank you. That WAS trying to be helpful....there is nothing anyone on this board or anywhere else that can do anything for you. You need to call the cruise line to verify if or any problems have come up with your booking..
mef_57 Posted December 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2017 MSC's website is not always reliable. Loads of complaints about it and it doesn't seem to improve. It must be nerve wracking, but do call.

MarkusDY Posted December 18, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted December 18, 2017 MSC's website is not always reliable. Loads of complaints about it and it doesn't seem to improve. It must be nerve wracking, but do call. Thank you, it seems everyone is noticing how bad the website is. I'm trying to establish if anyone else is having similar problems or maybe something I've done wrong. I have called several times, and of course to my travel agent first. They are still "chasing" MSC for tickets. It's cutting it a bit fine now and because the booking has disappeared, I'm even more concerned.

So your TA should be on the phone with them and doesn't hang up until there is a firm answer that Yes, you are good to go. It's unfortunate that the website isn't that great, and that doesn't help you, this close to sailing. You shouldn't have to "be chasing" your tickets 6 days before your cruise. It's unfortunate, but I think you came here to exclaim your frustration, which if it was me....I would be way beyond frustration and on the phone with MSC myself, going to corporate if I had to. Rare Captain-John Posted December 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 18, 2017 I don't think anyone has been rude or sarcastic so far. If you meant 'I'm trying to establish if anyone else is having similar problems or maybe something I've done wrong' then why didn't you ask that in your original post? Your last line of your original post could have said 'Is anyone else experiencing this, or have they in the past, so close to sailing?' - then you might get answers you want to hear! MSC have multiple problems with their website and these issues aren't a surprise to anyone who uses them. I hope everything goes well and it's just an oversight - have a wonderful cruise. myfuzzy Posted December 18, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2017 Did I misunderstand? I was under the impression the OP checked the website for his reservation and not finding it came here to find out if he should pack. I forgot that the website has issues. Rare DCGuy64 Posted December 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 18, 2017 OP: have you already completed your online check-in? I would assume so but obviously I don’t know the particulars of your situation. Have you already printed out tickets, because if I had, I’d show up at the port and demand to be permitted to embark. Nonetheless, I can imagine your frustration. If you want to contact me privately, I could ask my TA to look into it for you. I was under the impression the OP checked the website for his reservation and not finding it came here to find out if he should pack. I forgot that the website has issues. personally i agree with you 100% - if i had no tickets and cannot find booking, Cruise Critics is the last place i would be wasting my time, - i would be on the phone fixing the issue, not making posts here - again, we all read things differently but from what i was reading, i see your point - i did not get the point where the OP was venting their disappointment with the website - she wants her cruise / air tickets ---- no one on here can help the OP with this.... people need to remember, this is just a chat session and crucial details such a missing documents or better yet, travel documents required to travel, i would go to the source, not here... I love these boards for a wealth of information about ships / restaurants / cabins -- etc...but that is it....

How many times have you read a new thread about missing documents and come here to find out what they should do....hellloooooo people, go to the source of your missing paperwork and ask there, not here, when you get the problem resolved, then come here tell us what happened and how it was resolved, so maybe in the future, if it happens to one of us, we have something to go with. To the OP.....please let us know what happens, hopefully, because it is close to sailing, the "books" may have been closed to download the manifest or something. MarkusDY Posted December 18, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted December 18, 2017 Ok, for the avoidance of doubt, yes I am interested to know if anyone else is having issues with the MSC website and not being able to retrieve their booking, or maybe not had tickets because Christmas is approaching. I'm purely trying to understand if this is just me affected or anyone else is having similar issues. I certainly would not expect anyone on CC to issue my tickets! I thought this was a friendly chat forum to exchange experiences but now I'm doubting myself again. Having been on circa 20 other cruises, of course I know I need to call the cruise line/TA. That was of course my first call. My post here was to establish if this is just affecting my booking or anyone else had a similar issue recently. So thanks for all the obvious messages of "call the cruise", I think I need to be more direct in my next post clearly. Merry Christmas all... and I hope you have your tickets to your next cruise ;-)

I know on another line, 2 or 3 days before, I know its like 6, but due to the holiday, they may have done it sooner. Because after the bookings are closed, you can no longer access your account nor print out boarding passes.
Rare DCGuy64 Posted December 18, 2017 #16 Share Posted December 18, 2017 I just logged into the MSC website and got my booking information in about 10-15 seconds. However, my sailing isn’t until next October so it may be that bookings for cruises in the very near future aren’t showing up as someone has suggested. Best of luck, MarkusDY! I used that once and got a phone call back within hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was wondering the same thing but didn’t want to mention it to the OP for fear it would have been seen as too obvious and thus likely already tried. I had an issue with clearing cookies on my computer while using another Italian cruise line’s website. Clearing out cookies forced the site to refresh the page and I got the information I wanted. MarkusDY Posted December 18, 2017 Author #21 Share Posted December 18, 2017 Thanks. I think the browser issue was there, but I did manage to complete online check in some time go and purchase dining plans etc. So I'm not sure if they have a web upgrade or something? Yes, the UK website is different and they only open limited hours at the UK call centre. I got referred back to my travel agent, which is common practice, not sure if they work the same way in the USA. Anyway, we booked through Viva Voyage who I believe are an American agent although they sell in the UK through a UK website and phone number. We've never had any problem with Viva Voyage so I have to leave them to contact MSC and chase this now. It's very frustrating as I can't even get on the airline website and allocate seats etc. Anyway, thanks for the positive comments, appreciated! Hopefully it will all resolve itself tomorrow! Rare eroller Posted December 19, 2017 #24 Share Posted December 19, 2017 I was wondering the same thing but didn’t want to mention it to the OP for fear it would have been seen as too obvious and thus likely already tried. I had an issue with clearing cookies on my computer while using another Italian cruise line’s website. Clearing out cookies forced the site to refresh the page and I got the information I wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This is actually great advice. The MSC website (at least the USA one) is so glitchy and filled with holes, that not everything even works with the best of browsers. It also varies from day to day as they seem to be making changes and "upgrades" daily. Today I went into my booking and it stated that my check-in information was not complete. I've had it finished and complete for weeks now. I go into it and my passport number is missing. It was there before, but something MSC did with one of their upgrades removed it. I re-entered it and another set of edocs was sent right away. FYI I've found Safari is not comparable at all with the MSC website. I always have to use Firefox if I want to have a semi-decent experience. Even with Firefox it's never prefect, as the website is just so poorly constructed. It makes the Royal Caribbean/Celebrity websites look fantastic, which is saying a lot!

I am sorry that they were like that to you when you were just trying to assess if this is happening to others. You did not need their judgement but were asking if others experienced this before or it is happening to any one else. I have experienced a few rude responses from people in this MSC forum. Not sure why? :confused:I have never had rudeness in the other groups NCL/Disney or Princess just in here. Sorry it happen to you. I truly hope that all works out for you and that they are able to figure ASAP what is going. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas!!! :)
