Closest Open Beach to Crown Bay

Wondering which beach is the closest to Crown Bay that is open with bathrooms and food.

I believe Lindbergh Bay/Emerald Beach is only a few minutes from Crown Bay. Emerald Beach Resort is recovering from Hurricane Irma and booking leisure guests as of Feb 1 2018, however the beach they sit on is now open. Close to airport.

Beach is free with chair and umbrella rental available close to Emerald beach resort. I would suggest a taxi which is about max 7- 10 min drive? Bar is open as well [emoji51][emoji482]

No walking is not an option. There is no cost to use the beach.

Many repeat visitors do walk with the shortcut but a taxi is highly recommended and cheap enough for a small group...

For more amenities Magens Bay is the next closest, Coki and Sapphire are a little further and $11/pp taxi each way.

Yes its possible (we have done it a few times) but we do not recommend doing the walk. You have to walk on the road (no sidewalks or even a safe barrier) up a steep hill, around the refinery, and then down to the beach (which is across from the airport runway). A taxi from Crown Bay is only $4 per person and you will be a lot safer then walking. The walk takes you around a blind curve where you are walking right along the road...and there is a real danger of being hit by a vehicle.

 

The beach is open, but we are not sure if there is a functioning bathroom or porta potty. We asked a policeman (about 2 weeks ago) and even he was not sure.

There are 2 routes to get to Emerald Beach. The other route is flat and sidewalk all the way. There is a small incline at one point but it's an easy walk.

Google maps shows you can walk along Veterans/Moravian HWY. There is a sidewalk on this main road - this is also the shortest distance 1.2mi
