According to the onshore concierge, the Michael's Club concierge will be Jamie on the January 20th sailing.

The onshore concierge for Summit is Jamie. Is this the same person who will be moving to the MCC role or are you talking about a different Jamie?

Maggie is awesome, Dennis always had my table waiting.

The reason I'm commenting, I wanted to suggest a bar that is very under advertised, It's called Infusion, it's very similar to the World Class bar on S ships, real craft cocktails. It's hidden on deck 5 and is part of the Gelateria across from Cafe Bacio. Open 5:30-10:30, there was one bartender in December Filippe.

Enjoy your cruise and if you see Captain Kate wish her a happy birthday.

Is this bar something new? Don't remember it on my June cruise.

I spoke with a Vanessa who told me that our concierge on the Summit for 1/20 was going to be "Jamie". Maybe I misunderstood her... or she misunderstood me! :) Probably both if the shore side concierge for the Summit is named Jamie. Too much of a coincidence.

Plan always in my mind: wake up at 8am and be at the pier by 930am.

Plan that we actually discussed: wake up around 1030am, pier between 1130-12

Plan that occurred: The AC was amazing, even the sofa bed - we all slept until 10! Well, I slept until 10, and then almost had a heart attack about how behind schedule we were.

First order of business ... Mike and Jeff were on their flight, it had take off from DCA and they were en route to SJU. I went upstairs to take in the sun on the pool deck and then walked down the street to the Starbucks.

For you Starbucks aficionados — they accept Starbucks card (unlike European Starbucks) and and are so nice.

We got our stuff together and asked the front desk staff to order us a cab, the ride was $20, plus tip, and took about 10 minutes. We arrived at the pier around 1pm. There was a little confusion with dropping off the luggage and security was a bit of a mess as the magnetometer lost power and none of the security staff could figure out why. They eventually got another machine up and running and got us through, we got right to the check in desk. The guy who helped us was a nice, but had some trouble finding our keys. Eventually we were all checked in and a lovely woman named Alana came over to escort us onto the ship.

We got onto the ship around 130pm, and Alana brought us right to Michael’s Club to drop out bags and meet the concierge - Anastasia. It was our first time being escorted onto the ship and what a great that was - no one hassled us about taking a photo, buying a dinner package, or any of that usual stuff.

Anastasia advised us that our suite was ready for us, but lunch was also being served in Luminae until 2 so we should head there right away if we’d like to eat - we did that just that.

The maitre’d in Luminae is Denis, but advised us that we could just refer to him as The Menace - lol. He was super friendly and we discussed our plans for that evening, because muster was at 745pm he asked us if we could dine later in the evening - so we settled on 9pm.

We were introduced to our server - Juan Pablo, our assistant waiter - Alex, and our sommelier - Maggie. We were instantly impressed with all three of them, they’re friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Maggie was impressed with Chad and Cole’s knowledge of some boutique Champagnes and struck up a very long conversation with them about it - it was very nice!

Cole and Chad ordered the heirloom tomato salad and the salmon sashimi for appetizers. Cole and I ordered the duck confit sandwich as my main, and Chad had the burger. We also ordered a butternut squash risotto to share. Everything was delicious - especially the duck confit - and of course the truffle fries. We all had several glasses of Champagne and then Chad and Cole had a fume blanc, whereas I had a lovely dry rose.

Also as an added bonus, Maggie pointed out that the Christmas/New Year’s menu of wines by the glass were still available, which aren’t normally available.

Around this time Mike and Jeff joined us, although Luminae had stopped serving food, they sat down and chatted with us for a bit. They then headed up to the Oceanview to grab a snack and we headed up to check out our Celebrity Suite!!

Is the MDR menu available for the embarkation lunch, does anyone know? Not much on that menu that I can/would eat.

There is no MDR menu on embarkation day as the MDR is not open for lunch. If they have a "concierge class" lunch in the MDR on embarkation day (this varies from cruise to cruise in my experience) you may be able to order something from that menu. But in all my times is Luminae for embarkation lunch I have never seen that menu offered to anyone in Luminae. Perhaps the buffet might be your best option on embarkation day.

Now it’s time for the big reveal - the Celebrity Suite!

After lunch we headed up to our room, as we were looking the Suite we ran into our butler, Pavel. He escorted us to our room and went over all the suite amenities and what he does. He is very efficient and super friendly! As Pavel was leaving, our stateroom attendant, Gerardo stopped in to introduce himself. He also seems extremely friendly and seems to be omnipresent.

We started unpacking and couldn’t find a US outlet in the room, they all seemed to be European. I had thought about bringing my adapter, but am so used to the S-Class, where most outlets are US. So, we had a minor freak-out and asked Gerardo if he had any adapters. He very quickly brought us one, which I plugged in to an outlet and some sparks came out, and then the power went out in our room - fun!

We called Pavel to advise him of the situation, he immediately came by and confirmed it wasn’t working and called the electrician. And so began our hour and a half ordeal of not having power or A/C. We thought about leaving, but wanted to get ourselves unpacked, which we did by the light of our iPhones.

We called Pavel twice more to ask what was going on, and called guest relations a few times to inquire as to what the delay was. Eventually guest relations called the suites manager - Maya, who immediately came up. She was in shock that it had taken so long to get to our room. She had a few heated phone calls about the situation, it turns out someone had come, but only flipped one fuse and was waiting on someone else to do a second task, but never called that person. Maya had Pavel bring us some water and sparkling wine while the situation was sorted out - which was extremely nice.

Maya was super nice and very apologetic about the entire situation, despite it being completely out of her control.

Eventually two electricians showed up and tested everything, including taking apart our circuit breaker in the hall. He then took the converters that Gerardo had provided us saying there was something wrong with them!

I should mention during our long pause without power we did discover several US outlets, so don’t fret!

After we got the power back we decided we needed a drink, met up with Mike and Jeff and headed back off to Michael’s Club! Sat there for a bit, chatted with Anastasia and met the bartender, Ilya.

After having a glass of Chandon, we headed back up to get changed for dinner before muster. The late departure really threw me off, it was so strange getting ready for dinner before even doing muster!

You will always have great service from Maya. We had her in Michaels club on the repo last April. I have 3 lady friends who are on Summit with you this week. They are staying in one of the Royal Suites. You will probably meet them in Michaels or Luminae. Wish I had the time to sail with them but have too much to do here at home. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures aboard the Summit this week.

Enjoying your review, Tim, and looking forward to more.

Did they ever get grab bars installed in the bathtubs of the Celebrity Suites?

That has been a major complaint about those high bathtubs in the M-class Celebrity Suites for years, a real safety hazard, hard to climb in and out with nothing to hold on to for stability. But nothing was ever done about them

(at least nothing had yet been done by the last time we stayed in one).

Other than that, we really like those M-class Celebrity Suites, especially the great views from the living room.

We like those even more than the living rooms of the Royal Suites, but the Royal Suites do provide a separate stall shower.

So glad you are enjoying the secret bar :cocktail:.

If you remember please tell Filippe than Jen from Florida says hi. Is that bar still mostly unadvertised? I told Filippe I would send my Cruise Critic "friends" on future sailings to see him

Love your comments so far....the "extreme entry" to the tub in the celebrity suite led us to the upgrade to a "normal" shower in the royal suite! Thanks for you ongoing commentary...keep the news coming and have a great cruise!!!

Yea, the tub drives me insane.

Hello Tim -

Can you please tell me which Suite number you are in? Also, do you notice any wind noise in the suite as you are on the hump? And how many chairs on the deck? If able, post a video clip or two. Thanks and have a great time. We are looking at a CS this summer (Bermuda cruise). Cheers...

Well, I made a lovely long post about dinner and my phone restarted and now it’s gone -_-

But we’ll try it again, here is the Luminae menu

bdd9de346d70a586fc92f1c8d4e88152.jpg

We also got two items from the MDR menu, the Thai beef spring rolls and the Thai coconut curry soup. The spring rolls were delicious, the soup was not our favorite.

Off the Luminae menu we ordered the buffalo mozzarella, the pork belly, the tomato soup, and the cold salmon. The pork belly was exceptional, so definitely get a few of those if you’re a fan.

For our entrees we had 3 spaghettis and 2 filets. Both of which were delicious - I really loved the spaghetti, it had the perfect amount of spice.

I can’t remember what we had for dessert, but I think like a ganache or something.

As always Maggie, Juan Pablo, and Alex were amazing - they really made for a special evening.

After dinner we headed to the casino to lose some money and off to Revelations. The main bartender at Revelations is Marlon, and he’s assisted by Connor. We definitely partied hard and met a lot of people!

MIT - great trip report. Really love the details and picks - feels like i’m Along for the ride.

Can anyone tell me if there are cabana’s on the Summit and if so is there a trick to securing one (ie: booking in advance?)
