39august Posted January 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2018 Is there something special going on that weekend? Hotel prices are thru' the roof! And at least one hotel is showing sold out.
Texas Tillie Posted January 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2018 All I see on the calendar for that weekend is the Historical Society having a home show, but I'm thinking it might also be commencement for A&M/Galveston and/or the UT Medical School. I think those dates in May are too early for commencement. I expect Commencement is closer to the 15th of May. Judie Posted January 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2018 (edited) Call a couple of the hotels and ask. The concierge or someone in reservations at the actual hotel will know. Call the hotel(s) directly, not their 800 number. The folks in a call center probably won’t know. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2018 I was going to suggest this as well. Just call a hotel directly and ask. Keith
JBSteelerfan Posted January 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2018 If you are driving down, you might want to look at staying just north of Galveston, such as League City. Usually much better prices and only about a 20 minute drive the morning of the cruise.
Galveston Cruiser Posted January 14, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2018 The first two weekends of May, Galveston Historical Foundation has Homes Tour. Multi events each weekend from Friday through Sunday plus tours of historical homes. There is always something every weekend in Galveston that draws visitors.
