zqvol Posted January 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2018 How are they not working? Do they know when they will be working again? They were damaged in the storm two weeks ago. I suspect that they are waiting on parts. Fixing those things is not like fixing a rope course.

RVachon Posted January 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2018 It should be called the Brokeaway. 9 sea days on a 13 day cruise is not what I paid for. Ridiculous.
esm54687 Posted January 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Do they have an estimate as to when the slides will be repaired? Someone, getting off the Breakaway today, posted on ShipMate that the slides will be closed for the next 6 (six) trips.

getaway17 Posted January 20, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Just got off the Breakaway, and never got a clear answer from anyone in regards to when they would open. Only in the final days did they finally admit they would not be functioning on our trip. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dexddd Posted January 20, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 20, 2018 It should be called the Brokeaway. 9 sea days on a 13 day cruise is not what I paid for. Ridiculous. When NCL first announced the names for BA and GA we all had plenty of fun making comedy of the names. Brokeaway might of been one of them but it took a few years for it to really be broken to this extent.
UrbanTraveler Posted January 20, 2018 #15 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Are all the slides down, including the blue one (the one the kids mostly use over the kids pool)? That slide isn’t a “tube” and isn’t very high. If that’s also down, is the damage that these slides sustained plainly visible?

zqvol Posted January 20, 2018 #18 Share Posted January 20, 2018 It should be called the Brokeaway. 9 sea days on a 13 day cruise is not what I paid for. Ridiculous. Sorry, but all you paid for was the ship to transport you from point A to point B, which in this case was a NYC round trip. Ports are never guaranteed. If you cruise for ports, you should take a land vacation instead.

UrbanTraveler Posted January 21, 2018 #21 Share Posted January 21, 2018 Hi, Anyone cruising on the Breakaway right now? Any status/reports about the slides? Also, how is the cruise going? Thank you :)
antsnanny Posted January 22, 2018 #22 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Sorry, but all you paid for was the ship to transport you from point A to point B, which in this case was a NYC round trip. Ports are never guaranteed. If you cruise for ports, you should take a land vacation instead. Why then do the advertise the cruise is part of the voyage, its not just a destination. I feel badly for those people who actually love the slides, its a bummer.
bob brown Posted January 22, 2018 #23 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Ropes course is open, but don’t expect to see the slides open at least for our cruise. One maintenance guy said they were waiting for slides contractor to “check them”...
CaptnG Posted January 22, 2018 #24 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I reached out to our cruise consultant. She is following up to try and determine when they anticipate having the slides in working order again. I will update here if I get anything useful.
