cambriah Posted January 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2018 HI ALL: We will be taking our first river cruise in March. AMA Waterways -- 8 days leaving from AMSTERDAM . Are there any "Formal " dress up nights where men are required to wear a tie and jacket and women would wear very dressy attire? I think there is one night where our group will dine at the Captain's table. Have taken many ocean voyages so any suggestions regarding river cruising would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Cambriah
Bizmark'sMom Posted January 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2018 River cruises are much more casual than ocean cruises are. For dinner - if I had time after returning to the ship - I would put on a clean top and freshen my make up. I was not out of place at all.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted January 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2018 In a word: No. You might want to bring a sport coat in case it's cool in the lounge or dining room, but nothing formal is ever required and golf shirt to sport coat is pretty much the range. Rare Got2Cruise Posted January 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2018 On AMA some men wore sports jackets at the special appointed dinners. Ladies wore sparkly tops or simple dresses. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look special. Also the Chefs Table venue is very nice too Sent from my iPhone using Forums
