Choosing cabins - Coral Princess Alaska May 2019

First time cruising to Alaska and first time on Princess, we would love some input on the cabins we are looking to book this week.

Coral Princess - southbound from Whittier to Vancouver May 2019

We are looking at an obstructed Oceanview - cabin E620 to save some $$$. Any thoughts or pictures of this cabin? My mom does not want to be in an interior room and doesn't want a balcony. Which I agree with, they wont use the balcony and my dad would rather be up on an outside deck.

Other cabin we are looking at it for DH and myself....Mini Suite - D725 or D726. Not sure if we should be Port or Starboard for southbound cruise?

Any help or input is appreciated!!! Pics if available are even better! I have been looking/searching but can't find anything.

Look into the OV rooms near the Casino... on Fiesta Deck.

HIGHLY recommend!!!!

Better than the other, regular, OV rooms.

You won't be sorry.

There is a picture at post#12 - here:

I am not sure about mini-suites.

If it were to matter at all which side of the ship, when sailing Southbound, you would probably want to be PORT, facing inland, to the east.

Did this itinerary May 2016 , in one of those rooms... Alaska is wonderful!!!

Consider the pre-cruise boat-tour, such as 26 Glacier Tour before you board the CORAL.

It really gets you out-there and to see the glaicers!

When we went, the Food and Service in the MDR were just excellent!!!

Buffet, very very bad...

I will also mention that when we sailed, the pools and hot-tubs were not adequately heated.

ENJOY!!!!

Thanks for the info. I will definitely look into those oceanview rooms.

I am just a little confused since I have read that northbound cruisers should have a port side room as well? That seems like contradicting information. But for now I think we are going Port side.

Okay, let's take Hubbard Glacier for example....

Sailing all thru there, after the cruise departs, yes, the land/mountains will be on the Port Side. Geographically easy to point out.

(this is also the one area that is open water, so if there is any motion at all, it will only be then. Unless there are some really rough conditions, of course.)

When at the Glaciers, of course, the ship will turn so that everyone gets good viewing.

Glacier bay has viewing on both sides... But, you will see the one side on the way in, and the other side on the way out.

I suggest going to the upper decks if possible for the best viewpoints in these best areas.

TAKE BINOCULARS!

When traveling thru the Inside Passage, there could very well be land/islands on both sides.

So, having said all of that, while I would probably give a bit of preference to the Port side, it probably isn't that big of a deal.

And, yes, balconies will be CHILLY in May!!!!

That is what I am thinking. But always want to get others input and perspective.

DH and I don't mind the cold, we will be prepared. My mom on the other hand is on blood thinners and is cold all the time. I have started teasing her that she has turned into my grandfather ( god rest his soul) where the heat in the house is set at 78 and he was still covered under a pile of throws. I will be sure to bring extra layers for her. :)

We really like the mini suites near the back of the ship, they are completely covered with very little foot traffic

here is a link to a webpage going into what balconies are covered vs. uncovered

Thanks for the link!

I am liking the idea of a slightly larger cabin and balcony.

Totally agree with this! We sailed SB on the Coral last year. We had mini D706. Loved the covered balcony and there is a viewing deck on the aft just steps away for a more panoramic view. We picked a port side cabin and think it was a good choice.

We just got off of the Coral and after MUCH research, we booked E736

and we did not regret it. It is completely covered and as aft as you can go.

Just exit your room and turn right to go through the door to a very unused

aft deck with great views!

It is above the Promenade deck and because of the design of the Universe Lounge,

you will not hear anything from it.

OV cabin: We sailed in B731. It's all the way aft and the window actually faces the aft public viewing deck. I tried hard to see into the cabin from the deck but couldn't see in at all from outside during the day. At night we pulled the blinds. It was only a few steps to the door outside and there were maybe 10 or so loungers on the deck. Most people didn't seem to even know the viewing deck existed so it was essentially a really large semi-private balcony. We loved the location and the cabin.

Don't forget to make use of the forward and aft viewing decks on Caribe and Baja. Many don't know they are there. Just go to the end of the passageway and through the solid doors. It is not restricted but many don't realize they can go through those doors. The best viewing is on the public decks.

We had mini c722 which is a half covered balcony. We made use of the nearby rear viewing deck a lot also. The only negative was that is a long walk to the buffet at the front. [emoji6]

Can you tell me if you had vibration in C722?
