NCL Casino ?

I have not played in a NCL casino. I have played other lines, and usually play slots, on the other lines you put your sail and sign card in the machine, played what you wanted, then cashed out to your card which kept a running total.

My quandry is how this works on NCL. I understand that I can either get cash, or have an amount applied to my card, however I am unsure as to how to proceed when I am finished playing.

Let us say I credit $50.00 to my card and play slots, I do okay and win 25.00 for a total of 75.00. Do I have to cash out $75.00? Is there a way to keep the $75.00 on my acct, for the next time I play. Would I have to reapply $50.00 every time I play, but I would have cash out tickets from each time I played? I would like to add money to my card once, and then also cash out once at the end of the cruise. any way to do this?

NCL does not use a "casino" account, you put money in and take ticket out, each time you play. You can then either cash your ticket or hold it for later or next day, always being sure to cash any leftover tickets the night before you leave.

This is not true.

In the OP's example, if you are finished playing and now have $75 in the machine, simply remove your card. Do NOT print out a ticket. Your $75 will remain in your "gambling" account until the next time you play (at which point you will use the keypad to transmit as much as you want to the machine you want to play.)

No need to print out a ticket until the very last time you play at the end of the week.

Perhaps folks don't generally do this - but it is absolutely possible.

Wow...this is interesting and news to me as well. I never knew NCL had a "gambling account" tied to your card.

Many thanks. What I was hoping to hear. I didn't know if I would lose the $75 , and would be at zero the next time I played

100% ABSOLUTELY WRONG! If you walk away with $75 on the machine, removing your card does NOTHING with that $75. It remains on the machine and whoever sees it can sit down and start playing it. VERY VERY VERY BAD advice. Last cruise I was on, I went o the casino an hour before it was open and circled the slots. I found a total of eight machines that had money left on them and printed out tickets for all of them. Grand total was only about $10 but it was free money!

This is wrong, at least on the breakaway. If you use your room key and remove it with money on the machine, the money will be added to you casino account. I cannot speak for other ships but the scenario you describe could certainly still happen if the people gambling were not using a card in the machine.

Most ships, if you pull your card, credits on the machine will transferred to your card. It is GOOD advice. You can always do the old school print a ticket, but make sure to print it BEFORE you pull your card.

I'm thinking that is true in Carnival casinos, but on NCL, I've never even put my room key in a slot machine. So you are saying that you can put your card in the slot, set up an account, then pull from that account the whole cruise? Is it separate from you on board credit charges? Casino money separate from your charge accounts?

Your room key works just like the CAS card. It will track your gambling and give you points. As well as give you the opportunity to charge money to your onboard account for a 3% fee.

1000000% wrong. The first time I pulled my card out without cashing out my ticket my money disappeared I freaked out. Long story short and a slot attendant came over and showed me it had gone into my account the money was there

If you simply pull your card out you WILL lose the money.

Again, 100000% WRONG. If you are not sure what you are talking about, why are you trying to scare people? LOL

If anyone wants to be double triple sure before they walk away from the machine - first pull your card out. Your machine will zero out and show "no credit". Put your card back in and then follow the prompts to transfer money TO the machine and you will see your money right there :)

PS Anyone who has ever had a handpay knows this to be true.

Sorry but it is correct, you will have a playable balance on your casino card. I have had to explain to many many people on the Breakaway that the money transferred to their card. A few times the person did not have a pin # set up so I was unable to help them download it back. It happens when you pull your casino card out before hitting the cash out button.

On the Gem, you have no option but to print a ticket...at least that was the case as of last April.

NOT true on the Gem. Sail the Gem several times a year - twice in 2017 - Feb & Nov. Always able to leave money in the 'gambling' account.

Exactly. And whenever you get a handpay, the casino attendant pulls your card out and puts their card in to pay you. Any money (aside from the jackpot they are paying you by hand) goes straight to your "gambling account" on your card. This is not so hard to understand.

This is why I read Cruise Critic, there's always something to learn. How do you set up your pin #?

This is actually theft. At a land based casino, this would get you blacklisted.

No worries. The machines aren't on when the casino is closed so there's no way this could have happened.

At the promotions desk, if you are a CAS guest you will have a default pin of your birthdate (if I remember correctly it’s month and year but don’t quote me it’s been a long time) or you can have a personal pin # set up at the promotions desk
