Oshawapilot Posted January 27, 2018 #28 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Interesting thread, we board pride a week tomorrow. I read up about chopsticks, and I do like Chinese fare...but I like sushi more. ;) On that topic, for those in the know, I've read mixed information on the availability of sushi outside of the ala-carte options in Bonsai. Some threads indicate that it pops up in the buffet (or elsewhere) gratis on several occasions during the 7 night cruises? And the green waterslide is now officially on my to-do list! DramaQueen22 Posted January 27, 2018 #30 Share Posted January 27, 2018 If you are "foodie" try the Chef's Table experience. Best thing we did on our recent Pride cruise. Go to the Alchemy Bar...fantastic drinks!

stevefrisco Posted January 28, 2018 #32 Share Posted January 28, 2018 For those talking about sushi, it's the best I've had on any cruise ship. I don't like paying for food on cruise ships but it some of the cheapest sushi I've ever seen outside of LA (no clue why it's so cheap in LA) and is a treat for my life partner and I and our friends/family. My brother and I usually get it when we have a big win in the casino!
Crusin Karen Posted January 28, 2018 #33 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Chocolate chip cookies at the Sweet Spot at lunch buffet. THE BEST COOKIES EVER. Wish I had packed a container and brought some home with me.

Oshawapilot Posted January 28, 2018 #36 Share Posted January 28, 2018 What's some good types of sushi? Very subjective compared to peoples taste. Some people only like veggie rolls, other people love sashimi (raw fish), and some like everything in between with raw or cooked fish rolls, etc. For a beginner who isn't sure about the raw fish thing I always suggest some simple rolls like cucumber or avocado cucumber to start, there's lots of cooked traditional meat rolls like teriyaki chicken or beef, etc. Next step would be something like a green dragon roll which gets into more things like avocado and fried shrimp, and then it goes from there into more of the raw rolls, sashimi, etc. My love of all things sushi started on Royal Caribbeans Explorer of the Seas - it was something I would never have tried before, but when it's sitting there for free in the buffet and I had nothing to lose, I thought I'd give it a try...now I'm addicted to all of it. ;)

Oshawapilot Posted January 28, 2018 #38 Share Posted January 28, 2018 Thank you so much always wanted to try but didn't know where to begin but I will try it [emoji4] Don't forget the soy sauce, and if you're feeling a little adventurous after a few rolls, try a little bit of wasabi with a piece. ;) Be careful, if you like it, next thing you know your family and friends will start to hate you for suggesting nothing but sushi restaurants when it comes time to go out. ;) The thing that's nice about sushi buffet (as opposed to ala-carte) is that you often try an individual pieces of many different rolls vs having to pay for an entire roll only to find out you don't like it. Personally, I enjoy most of it except for anything with squid, or yam - neither particularly appeal to me.

dvond Posted January 29, 2018 #40 Share Posted January 29, 2018 There is no charge for lunch. Sent from my iPad using Forums Sounds like a nice non buffet lunch option, my wofe will be thrilled, she hates the buffet, especially on embarkation
CruisingAgain Posted January 29, 2018 #41 Share Posted January 29, 2018 The "no charge for lunch" was for Chopsticks and that IS a buffet. Just a different section. If you are thinking sushi for lunch - there IS a charge when it is open for lunch. Usually just for dinner I think.
Bluemoon319 Posted March 16, 2018 #42 Share Posted March 16, 2018 No joke, that thing is fun. The nice thing about the Pride is you will have plenty of time to do everything. Hahaha, I have to disagree. I've been on her for 14 day Journeys cruises & never got to everything, LOL.

I just realized....the Pride is going to have Ken Byrne AND The Rev. Dr. E. That’s going to be a great cruise pair.
