Norwegian Spirit: July Or August?

Hi All

New to "Cruise Critic" and looking for some expert advice. We are looking to do a European Cruise this summer. We are coming from Canada so it is a hike and $$ to fly into ports, as such - we want to take advantage of the two weeks we have carved out and have pretty much decided on the Norwegian Spirit (for the 11-day cycle). We are deciding between July or August - which month would you recommend? And can you provide some tips for this itinerary?

July. Both will be hot, but August is the month many Europeans take vacation, so ports and ships will be more crowded. EM

july. took this cruise on the spirit last year toward the end of june and it was already very hot in some of the ports.. great trip!!!

teens on ship had fantastic time. make sure your teen attends the first night meeting as that is when they make friends. hundreds of teens during the summer.

this cruise is port intensive and my grandaughter loved the excursions. we did spend 2 nights in rome before boarding the ship.

The itinerary will be great for children.

 

We took teens on similar ports many years ago.

 

The key is not to plan full day touring because it can get tiresome for both parents and children and in the heat even more challenging.

 

We tried to keep tours to a maximum of four or five hours and did not do them everywhere. We spaced them out.

 

Found things that would be interesting for the whole family.

 

If you can I would do July over August but as mentioned it will be hot both months.
