This is one of those things that, in the past, has varied from sailing to sailing, even from bartender to bartender… The UBP rules are pretty unambiguous about this: Energy drinks are excluded from the package. But if you order it as a mixer, sometimes they ring it up just as an unspecified mixer, and you get it for no extra charge. Maybe NCL has now put an end to this practice, so if you plan to order a lot of Red Bull cocktails, it may be worth "discussing" this with the bartender $$$

Maybe the “joke” is not for you. The package works great for most.

 

Agreed. What I end up doing is buying one of their water packages and either using OBC from booking perks (returning cruiser, onboard spend, etc.) or load some on ahead of time to pay for my Red Bull (not a coffee or Pepsi person, so it's my caffeine lifeblood on cruises) so everything feels "included" once I'm on board.
