RMLincoln Posted February 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Depending on which berth you are at it may be quite close to the People Mover, or it might be not very close. We have walked both with roller bags and shoulder totes. There are taxis at the pier who can take you to Piazzale Roma, which is where the People Mover will take you to.... but there's no roadway to the "other side of the island", you'll need either a water taxi or use the vaporetto (canal boat/buses). So to get to a hotel on the "other side of the island" you will need more than the People Mover. If you are worried about getting yourselves and luggage to the People Mover, how are you getting to the other side of the island? Do you know about access to the hotel from water taxi or vaporetto drop off? There is a feature on the Venice tourist website that show how many bridges must be navigated to the various hotels. Hopefully your hotel will have water access and you will not have to deal with bridges. Give us some more information and maybe we can be of better help. m--
Rare Hlitner Posted February 19, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Shuttle service between the pier and the People Mover Station is truly hit/miss. We have been in and out of the Venice port about 10 times and I think we might have had shuttle service twice. In those cases we were docked at one of the most distant piers and they did run a continuous shuttle. But at certain times of the day (and night) it did not run as frequently as one might expect. One afternoon we walked from our distant pier to the People Mover...which took about 20 minutes. During that time not a single shuttle bus passed us.
