My first blog or live cruise report for our Navigator of the Seas cruise to the ABC islands

Recommended Posts

I crashed and burned early but Barb made the show and of course the Casino!

Thanks for your live report! We board in two weeks so following closely!

Would you mind posting the main theatre and ice show schedule for each night as you go along, please?

Thanks!

Brad

Sure thing! Last night show was Jim David...A comedian who Barb said was good. They also had the Royal Caribbean Singers and Dancers...With the Navigator of the Seas Orchestra. Featuring the high c horns

How come no ice show? Have sailed that same cruise previously, and also different itineraries on the Navigator, and always enjoyed the ice shows. Is that something new?

Day 2

Today was a sea day and I love sea days…Don’t have to rush to do anything or have to be anywhere. I started my morning at 0400…Got my first cup of coffee from the Café Promenade on Deck 5. The coffee was hot but not the best. I’m still attempting to locate the best cup on the Navigator. The chair hogs must of slept in this morning.

I had the whole solarium to myself and didn’t see a single towel holding a deck chair. People started filling in around 0600…There was not a single seat left on decks 11 or 12 without someone in it or a towel holding the chair after 1100...Everyone was out enjoying the beautiful day. I had left about 0700 to have breakfast with Barb and the place was relatively empty.

We decided to have breakfast in Windjammer…The coffee was better but not as hot as I like my coffee. I had one of the cooks make me a omelet with everything and it was quite good. Barb had B&T sandwich…She can never find some lettuce to go with her Bacon and Tomato’s. After breakfast we attended the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle.

It was hosted by the our Assistant Cruise Director and we had about 40 members…I’m guessing of course. Royal gave out some tee shirts, hats and highlighters…Sure miss the old days when they gave out the good stuff. Shore Excursion, Specialty Restaurant or at least a bottle of wine. One of our members, Island284, made 6 Awesome Sea Pass Card holders that were the first items raffled. My Air Force Hats and Tee shirts were raffled off next…Not as many children as I had hoped. Here is a picture of the hats

Spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the weather and catching up on my reading till Its was dinner time

Tonight was our first formal night and we went to Chops…Chops is located next to the Windjammer. We had made our reservations for 1730 Hrs and the MDR attendant had to open the MDR door so we could get to Chops. My steak was cooked to perfection…Or just the way I like it. I also had two shrimp cocktails…Only 3 very large shrimp per cocktail. We were very pleased with the quality and service of our dinners even though we have noticed a change in the portion sizes over the years. We always eat at least one dinner at Chops every cruise. Still stuffed, I waddled off the Headliner Show.

Tonight’s show was Ballroom fever with Royal Caribbean singers and dancers. Seems like Barb and I were the only ones in group to like the show…The other four of our friends left before the show was over. Barb and I went next to the Majority Rules Game show. Some of the questions were funny but too many young children present…There was even a Children’s team. A few of the questions were risky and not suitable for children but the host kept it clean and refused to tell the audience the answers a few of the questions that were too risky. It was after 2300 before we got to bed. Tomorrow is Labadee…One of my favorite stops!

Can you let us know what day they are offering the bag laundry special? Trying to plan ahead how much clothes to bring. Thank you in advance.

The night of Day 3 we had the laundry bag special in our room. $34.99 for the wash and fold. Two day turnaround. Don’t know if that price includes Crown and Anchor discounts or not.

Day 3

Beautiful day in Labadee! We started our mourning off with room service…Just some coffee and fruit plates plus a couple of bananas. Got our phone call just before 0700 and it was delivered right at 0700. Just got it all set up on the balcony as we watched the Captain backing in to dock at Labadee. Always amazed how effortlessly the Captain makes it look.

We were off the ship as soon as they let us…Headed to Nellies Beach to stake out our spots....We were the second ones to get there. The water was a little cold but we got use to very fast…Just a little rough getting the water past the “Special Parts”. We’ve been to Haiti many times but I still notice new changes every time we come back…Like the floating bar! We headed to lunch as soon as it opened

The hot dogs were awesome along with the burgers. However, I wasn’t impressed with the ribs or the Jerked chicken…Felt they were just plain tasting. I know they have to be tame on their seasonings to satisfy everyone but they really could of used more seasoning. After lunch we back in the water Did I mention it was hot? I headed back to the ship about 1430 with the all aboard at 1530 Hrs.

I didn’t mention in my last post but yesterday the Captain made a few announcements requesting blood donors. They needed 0 Neg but you had to have a blood donation card. Not sure if this was to prove your blood type or what. Today a Medical Helicopter landed and took the individual to a hospital. After we got underway from Labadee the Captain made another announcement thanking everyone for the outstanding response for blood and the medical staff was able to stabilize a injured crewmen. Don’t have a clue how he was injured.

We ate our first dinner in the MDR and got to meet our waiter. He looks like the actor that played Doogie Houser…That old tv show about the kid Doctor. We had the new menu that has received lots of comments on Cruise Critic. Our waiter explained that only a few of the first items in each category like Appetizers and Main Course would change everyday the most the rest of the menu remaining the same. I’ll have to see how that works out.

The headliner show was Tyzen, a comedy hypnotist. The show was great and some of things he had the volunteers doing had me in stitches. I’m just not completely believing all of the volunteers were truly hypnotized but there was no doubt many were totally hypnotized.

The 70’s dance party was at 2300 Hrs on the promenade deck 5 but with all the sun and fun today…We called it a night. Tomorrow is another Sea Day!

Day 4.

Today was a sea day or better yet…Just a plain old lazy day! We slept in till around 0740…Till our coffee arrived. Barb got dressed and tried to talk me into walking with her…We walk 2.5 miles every afternoon at home but I declined and told her I was just going to be lazy.

I put my hammock up on my balcony…Grabbed my book and coffee and enjoyed beautiful mourning and breeze. Barb did 4.2 miles and 112 stairs…She always wears one of them Fbit things on her wrist that tracks them stats. We went to a late brunch and then walked the pool deck and solarium two times before we could find two chairs. We enjoyed the day and made use of the roving bar waiters…There were lots of them around the pool area. I’ve read post of people complaining about the lack of bar waiters but not on the Navigator. We had lucked out and were in a great position to watch the belly flop compilation.

We pulled out our cruise planner and saw one the Ice Show was was at 1400…We hurried to deck 3 but found out we couldn’t get there from the front of the ship. No problem, up a floor and across the Casino and then back down. We were too late because Studio B was packed to the gills…People were even standing in the isles. We will catch them the next sea day. We went back to the Casino and donated to RCCL!

Our traditional dining time is 1730 Hrs so most days we will make it to the Diamond Lounge before dinner when they open at 1630 Hrs. Tonight we had one of Diamond or above members bring in his guitar and play for us…He was really good and I enjoyed his playing. Dinner was lacking…Or I should correct that statement. My dinner was lacking. I’m not sure why but I received my risotto (Not sure if I spelled that right) cold…And with it being cold it caused it to be bland. Our waiter Doogie noticed I didn’t eat my dinner when he brought desert (With the new menu, you order your deserts when you order your meal) offered to bring me something else but I declined and told him it was no big deal…I would grab some later tonight. The next thing I know the head waiter is apologizing to me and trying to get me to order another dinner. I explained it was no big deal and if he wanted to…He could make it up to me on lobster night🤪

Through the dining room windows we could see a beautiful sunset so I hurried to find a way outside to get a picture. Four elevators came loaded to the gills going up before I could get one. Got the picture but it wasn’t as spectacular as it was. Off to see the Headliner Show.

The show was ReVoiced and let me tell you ladies and gentlemen…They were AWESOME [emoji122] I’ve seen lots of shows on Royal Caribbean but these five gentlemen are the best. They are a Cappella type group with that old Barbershop sound. No Royal Caribbean band to play with them…They didn’t need them. They had one of there members make all the music with his mouth! That’s right with his mouth he made the drums…The symbols…The horns! He reminded me of that guy in the movie Police academy who made all the sound effects. Their voices were fantastic and they had the right mix of old songs…They had people up and singing with them. Awesome show and if you get the chance make sure you don’t miss em.

After the show, we went back to Studio B and watched the battle of the sex’s…Which the men won!!! We decided to stay up late and see the late night adult comedy show at 2330 Hrs. Jim David was the comedian and was quite funny and not too dirty. It was after 0100 before Barb and I crawled into bed but got to admit…It was an awesome lazy day!

Tomorrow is our first ABC Island stop! Willemstad Curacao [emoji1084]. We are supposed to dock about 0900. I’ll let you know more tomorrow

What type of cabin are you in and location? We are thinking about taking a hammock in Nov. We will have a JS hump port side.

How dress up was the first formal night? We usually dress up more for this one. I wear formal dress and husband wears tux with mini medals.

Also, from a submariner wife; thank you for your service.

My room is just a regular balcony room on right side...Smaller than most other balconies we’ve had. My Sams club hammock barley fits and I have to move my table and chairs out of the way.

Real formal nights are a thing of the past...Don’t think they would not allow anyone in the MDR unless they were wearing a bathing suit.

I did see a suite guest get ask to leave the Diamond Lounge by the concierge for wearing shorts on a formal night

I’m so glad I caught your live review. My father served in the air force 73-96. I grew up on many bases. Too bad you’re not on our 11/23 sailing. My twins would have been thrilled to be gifted your hats to show “pop pop”. Enjoying your review. Thanks for sharing.
