Which Diningroom

Will be on the Amsterdam in a few weeks and want to know which dining room is for any time dining, Deck 4 aft or Deck 5 aft, thank you.

Usually it's the lower floor for Any Time Dining, but that has not alway been the case. I have had Fixed Dining on the lower level and seen others with Any Time Dining on the upper level. It's hard to say for certain until the night.

 

Either way, you will need to go to the lower level to check in. At that point they may direct you to a table on the lower level or they may direct you upstairs and the staff their will escort you to your table for the evening.

Koningsdam does mix everyone up on both levels.

On the other ships the lower level is used for Open Seating. There are a few occasions when people who are in Open Seating are taken to the upper level. For instance, we always have a table for 2 and we always let our wait staff know when we are going to eat elsewhere. When we people in Open Seating ask for a table for 2, on the night that we are gone, they will be taken upstairs and seated for that night only at lour table. This happens with tables of 4 sometimes as well. I have never seen a large group from Open Seating taken upstairs as a large table rarely all go together to eat somewhere else.

It used to be very strict Fixed on the Upper Level, Open Seating on the Lower, but that has not been the case more recently. We have sailed all those ships and back when we did do the dining room, what I posted was the way things were done.

The ships may be slowly changing over to what is being done on the Koningsdam.

The last several years we have been dining only in the specialty restaurants.

We looked at the MDR layout on halfacts, picked out several we liked on the upper level along the railing, made a list, and after boarding went to a podium near the Canaletto to make a reservation for the first one still open.

We have a Great Many HAL cruises. We Always have Main Upper Traditionall Dining on the upp er level of MDR.

As of right now, deck 4 is where the anytime dining is located. Note that you cannot walk through deck 4 to get to the dining room.
