Doug your review was/is awesome. I rarely follow from start to finish but you managed to drag my butt in and then padlock it in place.

 

Time to start mock-booking the Encore TA and figure out if I can work it into my budget alongside a cruise in hopefully January....

I know you left from NY but we would be leaving from Boston. What is the best priced airline to use?

 

Check out Iceland Air - not positive if they service Boston, but they are billing themselves as a budget airline to Europe, and depending on the days, the flights can be pretty reasonable.

We've flown Icelandic Air out of Boston many times. Nice planes, food and affordable!

I have loved reading about this cruise because I'm thinking of possibly trying the Encore TA. When I did a mock booking to look for Airfare I nearly fell off my chair. What I have found so far for one-way to London is just as much as the cruise itself.

See if a roundtrip ticket is cheaper and don't use the 2nd portion of it.

Full disclosure... a lot of posting over the past 11 days has been suspended repeatedly from in-person encounters. Sue and I have been pulled aside by roll call members around nearly every turn.

 

Returning from the room location tonight is no exception.

But it’s all-good. These last few nights have been spent trying to convince everyone for an Encore in Nov 2019.

Will have to try Norwegian for future I guess .... I tried American and United for London and gave up because flight would have been more than cruise so I did not book the cruise ... Ugh!! We really wanted the cruise but airfare killed it.

 

We used a combination of points and $ to fly Virgin Atlantic premium economy. Quite a few people flew Norwegian Air premium economy and were quite impressed.

 

There are deals out there. Scott flew from Nebraska for under $300.

The flight is too far in the future. You’ll get better rates when the time gets closer.

How much Doug? I think I gained 10 pounds on a cruise once and that was only 7 nights. I imagine on a cruise this long you can do some serious damage!

Right around 10... but I was already way-higher than I should be when I boarded. I will be doing some serious detox over the next 80-some days before the Baltic.

One way international airport fares are often good when booking thru' the cruiseline itself, give it a try. Fares usually are not available until 340 days prior to desired date.

Thanks Doug for the time you spent on this. I will be on The Bliss in October and this really got me pumped up. Thanks Sue for putting up with Doug doing this during your vacation. I can just see myself now going into the DB2 and saying oh this is the beer Doug talked about, etc, etc.

Doug and Sue, thanks for sharing your journey with all of us. Found it very helpful and entertaining. Have thoroughly enjoyed your review Doug. We were gonna book the Encore inaugural TA but then found the 19-day TA on the Getaway around the same time. Just too many interesting ports on that one. You and Sue did inspire us to book our first TA though (after over 30 cruises) so we must thank you enormously for that! Maybe some day we can meet up onboard. Will be stalking to see if anything you've booked or will book in the future interests us. Thanks again for taking the time and effort to keep all of us entertained!

The Encore inaugural TA is 11/2-13/2019. On NCL.com, search Transatlantic then Encore and you should find it.

Iceland air does fly out of Boston everyday......I use them all the time, very reasonable prices......

I would book but I am already booked on The Bliss for a Panama Canal Crossing. She will have to use the new Canal.

I just napped, successfully!! I think I’ve tried on just about every cruise and for some reason can never fall asleep.

 

We’re now getting ready for dinner in the Haven Restaurant, with our hosts Dave, Stacy & Nancy (assuming she can leave the casino this late in the game).
