Tender Question

Recommended Posts

I see posts about a Tender Sticker or a Tender number.

I am going on a cruise with a Tender port this May.

It ha s been about 3 years since I have gone on a cruise with a Tender port. However, I remember just going down the elevator and getting on first come first serve. Never remember getting a number or a sticker or a time.

Has this Changed? Do you have to go through the hassle of getting a number now. First serve seems much simpler in my opinion.

I was wondering about tender ports as well. I have FTTF and heard you now go to guest services before getting off unless you have a planned excursion through Carnival.. Maybe I'm incorrect. I had FTTF back in 2013 for Half Moon Cay and I *thought* my friend and I just went down to get off and there was a separate line for FTTF, I do know we didn't wait in any line, we just got on right away.

If you are not booked on a ship-sponsored excursion and wan to be on one of the first tenders over, you will need to go to the designated location for a tender sticker. If you are on a ship-sponsored excursion your ticket will tell you where and when to meet. If you are not on a ship-sponsored excursion and do not need to be on one of the first tenders you can wait and eventually they stop requiring stickers.

Do you know if you have FTTF, how it works? I am not doing a Carnival excursion for my tender port.

Just go to Guest Services and let them know you have FTTF and someone will escort you down to the tenders. Right to the front of the line, it's awesome!

When the ship first starts tendering, they have everyone queue up in an area (first come first served) and then are led to the tenders. Once the wait ends, they will announce open tender where you go straight to the tender deck.

Incorrect.

Before we became Platinum we always went to whichever venue was listed in the Carnival Capers, then Fun Times, to get our numbered sticker for tendering. When tender boats were ready for passengers, VIP was called first, then Carnival excursions, followed by sticker numbers.

The process is still the same for the most part, except that FTTF in included in the VIP group now.

When we are ready to leave the ship, we go to Guest Services to be escorted to the tender.

I am also confused about stickers. I still consider myself a newbie because I have only been on 2 cruises but neither time did I see anybody with stickers. The first cruise I had FTTF and really didn't know what I was suppose to do. We got up early and just got in line and was on the first tender boat. Last month on our cruise we didn't have FTTF and was first in line but before they let our line move they let a line of people who had FTTF, carnival excursions, etc. go ahead of us but we ended up on same tender as those people but as far as stickers go, I never seen anybody with them or even heard anything about them.

Unless you need to be 1st off, simply do as you've done in the past...go to the tenders when ready, and get on the next one! It's really only those who want to be on the 1st 2 tenders that might need to make arrangements. Of course, early ship excursions are taken off "en masse", but after that, folks simply straggle off when they're ready!

Although there may some variations in the system on different ships, this is what we've experienced. Unless you have an excursion booked, or some other sort of priority status, you will be directed to the ship's theater, where a staff member will give each person a numbered ticket (never seen any stickers). By having people go to the theater, it helps prevent a pedestrian traffic jam on Deck One waiting to get on a tender. Then, when a tender is ready for boarding, as space is available, ticket numbers will be called out. Example: Ticket numbers 1 through 20 may now proceed to the tender boat. Etc. etc. If you don't have an excursion booked, or are Platinum, Diamond or FTTF, get to the designated waiting area (theater or wherever) as early as possible and get your tickets before the crowd grows.

Exactly this, and this was our experience. We got down early because we had an excursion and got a number, but like everyone is saying Diamond, Platinum and FTTF went first. I remember we were like # 110 and 111 which ended up being great #s. There was a couple only was like 20mins behind us and their # were like 300+. They wanted to buy our #s because they had an early excursion also, it sounded great but we too was in a hurry. In summary, even though they had #s 300+ we could have not been on shore more than 15mins and we saw the same couple so it goes quick. By the way this was Cabo San Lucas, because I'm sure its different time in different ports. For example, we were not too far off the coast of Cabo however, in Belize you are quite away off shore.

there is only 30 cabins for FTTF so I cant see any separate line for those people for a tender

If you want to be with the first wave of people getting off- they give you little round stickie numbers to wear to show when you are getting in line for the tender
