edgee Posted May 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2018 Just received notice today that the Chase United VISA is removing the $10,000 automatic trip insurance when you purchase your travel with the card. Amount has been lowered to $1500 rendering it nearly useless except for airline tickets, perhaps.
LDVinNC Posted May 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2018 Wow. That's a significant change. At least they let you know and you read the message - not everyone will.
jeb_bud Posted May 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 3, 2018 The same is true for the MileagePlus Club card. I wonder if Chase is also downgrading the Sapphire Reserve trip insurance. Sent from my iPad using Forums
luvabargain Posted May 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2018 The same is true for the MileagePlus Club card. I wonder if Chase is also downgrading the Sapphire Reserve trip insurance. Sent from my iPad using Forums I just read a news report that Chase Sapphire will be cutting back some benefits, set to take place in late summer. jeb_bud Posted May 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2018 Thanks for the heads-up luvabargain. It looks like they aren’t changing the insurance, at least this time. Sent from my iPad using Forums
kaymoz Posted May 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2018 I wonder if this will be the "new normal" for all cards....
buggins0402 Posted May 14, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 14, 2018 Here is an article about the Reserve changes...if true, it looks like the Trip Insurance remains in place: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/internal-documents-show-changes-coming-104900767.html I wonder what happens to old charges where insurance would be in place for cruises after the changes on the United Explorer Card...and perhaps the Sapphire Preferred if that changes also?
