I do agree with you that it is an update, with the lighter colors and designs!

I am cracking up at the 'retirement facility' comments!!!!

But, still... Just being open and honest.. I see so many ways it could be done SO much better.

Maybe I can give them a 'B' for effort. But do hope that they do a real, nicer, upscale design and decor, with more upscale materials and colors.

When it comes to upkeep/updating..If they're seriously going to try and keep some ships in the fleet, at one point will they realise that it's like polishing a turd/putting lipstick on a pig/Bringing coals to Newcastle?

Cue the "ship happens!" comments. Oy.

I am looking forward to seeing the MDR decor/design when I sail on the Nieuw Statendam. From what I have been able to determine, its decor/design will be much like, if not the same, as the Koningsdam. The pictures that I have seen of the Koningsdam's MDR reminds me of the MDR of Celebrity Eclipse. I did not object to the decor, but I thought the structural supports in the MDR could have been better designed with less impact on the guest experience.

For me, what is of most importance in the MDR is the cuisine and the service, not the decor!
