CarnivalPlatCruiser Posted May 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2018 Yes, I know July 4 is an American holiday… And that there are a lot more nationalities on the ship. But does Carnival do anything special for the Fourth of July? Anybody know?
Rare jimbo5544 Posted May 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2018 We have sailed a number of times over the 4th. We have seen large flags displayed and some small things done, including vet recognition but that is all I remember. firefly333 Posted May 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2018 If you mean fire works, only Disney has paid to shoot them off and get the license, no other lines. Disney does it all the time so probably pays for the license.
sgttami Posted May 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2018 Left from NY on Sunshine...July 4, 2016 They didn't do anything special but I do remember the drink of the day was red, white and blue with some kind of sparkler instead of an umbrella...LOL
Ak4n3 Posted May 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2018 We boarded the Inspiration on July 4, 2016. That night, the ship swung close by Catalina Island to watch the fireworks. The Imagination and Miracle were there to watch, too. After the fireworks, all the ships went on our own merry way.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted May 5, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2018 We sailed out of New York on 9/11 anniversary and they waited till it got dark to see the two beams of light on the wtc site. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
nybumpkin Posted May 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2018 We've sailed over July 4 a number of times. Last year there were afternoon and evening deck parties and USA-themed trivia.
KateLovesCruising Posted May 6, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 6, 2018 July 4 is my birthday and we will be on the Sunshine for it this year. We didn't plan it specifically as a birthday cruise, it just happened to be a time when we were able to go. I would love to see fireworks at sea but after reading the comments it seems that wont be happening. I'll settle for the red, white, and blue drink instead! :D
Bombos Posted May 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2018 We boarded the Inspiration on July 4, 2016. That night, the ship swung close by Catalina Island to watch the fireworks. The Imagination and Miracle were there to watch, too. After the fireworks, all the ships went on our own merry way. I'll be on the Carnival Panorama leaving on July 4th, 2020. It would be great if Carnival did the same thing again by sailing near Catalina Island to see the fireworks.
Sizzlechest Posted May 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Can't speak for Carnival, but on a NCL cruise that left on the 4th three years ago, they decorated the main area, had someone dressed as Uncle Sam, and they did the Pledge of Allegiance during the Sail Away party. Kova15 Posted May 7, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 7, 2018 We were on the Magic in 2015 over July 4th. It was a sea day and they had some themed activities. They also played a lot of themed music. I got my family some crazy T-Shirts that we wore that day and we had fun. No fireworks but enjoyed they day overall.

Ak4n3 Posted May 7, 2018 #13 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I'll be on the Carnival Panorama leaving on July 4th, 2020. It would be great if Carnival did the same thing again by sailing near Catalina Island to see the fireworks. I guess it depends on the Captain. Hopefully they can do this for your boarding since you board on the 4th and Catalina is just there.
