Port of Baltimore

As the docking time is highly variable in Baltimore figure on 90 minutes after the Pride docks for drop offs. For those parking you might or might not be able to wait to park at that time and as long as the line does NOT extend out to the service road they will not turn you away. The parking lot generally opens for new passengers when about 2/3 of the returning passengers have disembarked.

Boarding for the wedding party will start about 2.5-3 hours after the ship starts letting off the previous passengers (sometimes it take customs a little longer to clear the ship after the last passenger is off). Priority boarding of Diamonds, Platinums, and suites will start about 20-25 minutes later. Special casino guests and FttF passengers will follow as soon as all the waiting loyalty and suite priority passengers already waiting have boarded. Zone boarding will begin after FttF and casino passengers have cleared the gangway.

The problem with the port of Baltimore - very limited parking. So until enough people get off the ship and leave, incoming cars cannot park. Since the incoming cars cannot park, they end up stacking up, and once enough are stacked up, the ONE entrance to the port for parking AND drop-offs is blocked.

This is why it's best to go based on time after docking versus a specific time. And it seems the Pride never docks at the same time, all the time :p:p

we are FTTF so should we arrive around 11:30?

What is the scheduled return time for the previous cruise to yours.

8am arrive 9:30 for drops offs,10ish for parking

9am arrive 10:30 for drops offs, 11ish for parking

10am arrive 1:30 for drops offs, noonish for parking

11am arrive 12:30 for drops offs,1ish for parking

Add an hour if the previous cruise is a Journey's voyage as many people will have 2x the luggage for the 2 week cruise.

ALSO make sure you sign-up for the text alerts in your cruise manager as there are many factor along the Chesapeake that can delay the Pride's docking time on arrival day.

Go to Cruisemaryland.com to see the port schedule. That will give you the harbor masters scheduled dock time. Or visit Carnival.com and search out the date of the cruise before yours to see it's itinerary.

On the off chance there is a known factor during the previous cruise delays the ship's return, Carnival will send out emails to those that provided them in the week leading up to your departure. If the arrival is delayed by an hour or more on boarding day, Carnival's travel text alert will inform you via your mobile phone if you sign up for the service.

How do you sign up for text alerts I can’t find it
It part of the passenger information section. It's to the right of where you enter your phone number. If you have already filled out this section you will need to use the edit button to access the page again.

When I click on the schedule, it only shows dates but not times. How do you get to the harbor master's scheduled dock time?

Thanks

Apparently they changed the website since Dec'17.

Try this one cruisetimetables .com click on departure ports. United States is in the right most column w/ Baltimore right at top. Then find the departure date immediately before yours.

We live in NE PA and it is a 3 hour drive to Baltimore. I start tracking the Pride on Saturday and check the ship's location Sunday morning to determine when we should leave our house, I use Marine Traffic .com. If it appears to be late arriving we adjust our departure time to Baltimore, if the Pride appears to be on time we leave so we arrive around 11:30 when the parking lot opens.

Enjoy your cruise!

  • 2 weeks later...

We have a later check-in time (2:30-3) for our June 24th cruise. This is our first cruise experience. My current fear is not getting a parking space - is this an unrealistic fear? I don't mind waiting with my wife and children. Should I arrive 11:30-12:00?

NO, unless you have suite or FttF priority. Otherwise you will have to wait outside of the terminal for your check-in appointment time to roll around. You are better off trying to time your arrival for around 1:15-1:45pm. The line to get in to the parking lot will be shorter. Though you might not get the most convenient parking spot, you will have a space for the car (in 6 Pride cruises I've never seen a full lot).

Just returned on the Pride 5/27/2018. NO NEED to WORRY ABOUT PARKING SPACES.

There are plenty of parking spaces. Half the lot is used for Carnival and the other half for Royal Caribbean. If by chance one lot is full, they will redirect to the other. If both are full, there is overflow parking.

Tips: I would suggest 11:30am arrival. Make sure your checked luggage is tagged as you drop off your luggage prior to parking. Porters will assist you with taking the checked luggage out of your car and placing it on airport style travel carts like you see on the runways. (You can tip the porters if you like - I did.) You will then be directed to pay for the parking. You pay up front of $15 per day = $105 for a week cruise. Cash line is to the right (and is always shorter if you have exact change) and credit/debit cards to the left. Then you will be directed to park.

If you are being dropped off, there is a separate line that they will guide you to drop off.

If you rely on when the ship docks that is only half the story. Our debarkation was delayed as there was only one officer checking what you brought back at the start of the process. This delayed us getting off the ship and subsequently new passengers getting on. Hence, I say 11:30am for both parkers and dropoffs as that makes it potentially the smoothest time to get through and on board.

If you are used to the chaos of FLL or Miami, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the orderly embarkation process.
