taxmantoo Posted May 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2018 Browsed several taxi sites in Amsterdam for rates from Schipol Airport to Hyatt Regency Amsterdam in Central Amsterdam. Rates are all fairly similar and the industry seems well regulated. Is there really any advantage then to reserving a taxi before day of landing or simply taking the next taxi in line (on the meter) when we get there? wheezedr Posted May 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2018 Next in line works fine and not difficult at all. Least expensive option is train into town, but a tad more effort.
diane.in.ny Posted May 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2018 Agree that the train is an excellent option. You pass the entrance to the train as you exit the terminal. And once at Central Station, you can take a taxi to the hotel

suspaul Posted May 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2018 taxmantoo, we used sun transfers to get to/from our ship from Schiphol. Don’t know if it’s less expensive than a taxi but it is one rate so the meter doesn’t keep running if caught in traffic. There is a meeting point after luggage claim at Schiphol where your driver will be waiting with your name on an iPad. If I remember correctly, they have your flight info and monitor arrivals in the event of a delay. Enjoy your travels. azjoy Posted May 20, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2018 We used Schipol Hotel Shuttle a month ago. Worked similar to Super Shuttle here in the US. They loaded the luggage and we only had 1 stop before our hotel. Price was more than the train but less than a taxi, especially during heavy traffic. shofer Posted May 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2018 We just stood in a taxi line and it moved very quickly. Out hotel was next to Central Station and it took us about 45 minutes and 50 euros to get there mid-morning. Since we were 2 senior ladies, one of whom had ambulation issues, the train or the shuttle weren't an option if we had to manhandle luggage. Going home, we left the hotel at rush hour so the it was 55 minutes and 65 euros getting back to Schipol. Sue
