Back to Back Question

I have always wanted to do a back to back and think I have found the one I want to do. My children can't take two weeks off so I was thinking, I would take one the first week and the other the second week. My question is...Would I have debark between cruises or would I be able to stay on the ship and just my kiddo debark and the other embark on there own? I hope that made sense.

Oh, thanks, I was aware of that. They walk you off, go through customs then back on board. I knew I wasn't clear. Because I will be cruising with two different people would I have to debark and embark with them? I don't want to have to repack.

How old are the kids? Not sure what mz-s is saying but if you are B2B you do not debark with the other guests. All B2B will be called to a room at around 10am, you are escorted privately off the ship, cursory customs check, new S&S card and reboard. Not sure how a child would board the second leg by himself.

The process is completely separate from other passengers. That's what makes it so great. You get to sleep in and not worry about crowds. Yes, you still have to get off the ship and get a new card, but it takes like 2 minutes. To answer your question, your kids would debark/embark on their own. In my experience, no other guests have been able to debark with a B2B guest. Also, make sure to book the same cabin for both weeks if possible. It would be such a bummer not only to pack, then unpack, but also to wait for your next cabin to be cleaned and ready. Hope this helps!

If you must get different cabins the crew makes it very easy. They tell you when your new cabin is ready and bring a rolling cart, like a hotel, for clothes hangers. It was pretty easy, better than packing for sure. When you disembark, don’t forget your passport. I did that and had to be escorted back onboard to my cabin to retrieve it. However you do it, it is a nice feeling when you see everyone packing and hurrying around and then in the morning you are calmly eating your breakfast ready to start another week.

We did this a couple of years ago. We sailed the first week just me and DW and the second week our neighbors joined us. After getting through customs the 2nd time and us getting back on the ship, our neighbors called us and kept us up to date on their progression of getting on the ship. When they boarded I took their carry on to my room so they didn't have to lug it around. We had the option of getting off the ship and reboarding with our neighbors if we wanted to, but choose not to.

You will have no problem debarking with your kids, and embarking with the next group. You don't have to wait onboard with other B2B guests. If they don't give you your new cards the night before, ask at Guest Services. You won't be able to reboard until they start letting new guests on. I have done B2B on lines other than Carnival in US ports and Not had any problem. Just explain what you want to do at Guest Services. EM

I’d call Carnival customer service and have the flag that you are a B2B person, but the people you are traveling with aren’t. Some people here will say you don’t need to, but when we did a B2B they flagged it in the system and our steward knew right away we would be staying on and in the same room. I certainly wouldn’t debark with everyone else and then have to reboard. Just do the B2B thing, it makes it very nice. And they hand out the new S&S card when you meet up that morning, not the night before.

"You get to sleep in and not worry about crowds."

not unless you can sleep through about 50 announcements for luggage stations. That morning is very loud, between announcements, people dragging baggage through the halls, and the room stewards pushing everyone out of their cabins

I love doing B2B's

How old are the kids? Can the 1st one get themselves off the ship and to whoever is dropping off the 2nd kid? Can the 2nd kid make it through security and check in my themselves? That's the question you need to decide. if they can, stay on the ship and do the B2B with a ship's officer through customs and back onto the ship.

We have done about the same thing you are asking. I should say it was our daughter that did. Wife and I in one room doing B2B and daughter in another room doing the same B2B. Our daughter had different roommates for each half of the B2B. The three of us did the normal B2B routine of going to the assigned meeting place and escorted off to Customs than first ones back on the ship, our daughters first half roommate got off when her zone was called and the second half roommate was going to do the normal cruise check-in and embarkation, except the second half roommate, boyfriend that she broke up several months before the cruise, was a planed no-show. No problems at all doing what you are thinking if the kids are old enough to do it.

We did a back to back at Jacksonville port and they wouldn't let us pay for both weeks parking. So we would have to get off go pay for parking for the second week that's crazy. Thankfully our children were joining us on the second part so they went to my house got my spare car key and went and paid for my parking for the second week. That way we just had a walk off and walk back on instead of going all the way to the car.
