Back on the 150 bus, heading to the airport... I have walked around 12-15 miles here in South Beach today. My feet are tired, and it's pretty hot here as well... I started out at South point park where I got off the bus. That's the last piece of land you see as you exit the channel in Miami.

From there walked North, past the art deco hotels. And then headed West to Alton Rd to visit a couple of taco places.

***Note: I went to 3 taco places...

Afterwards, headed back East towards Collins Ave. (Vanilla Ice would refer to it as "A1A, beach front avenue")

Walked around a bit more, and then waited for next airport bound bus.

I carried with me my level 1 bug out bag. ***Note: level 1 means it had everything of value that I brought with me on vacation. Cash, credit cards, passport, medication, hat and sunglasses, three bottles of water from the ship.

***Note 2: my suitcase that I stored at the airport is full of dirty clothes, and little more of any real value.

***Note 3: even when my clothes are clean, they are of little to no value.

Looks like tropical storm Alberto is taking a bite out of both ends of my vacation... All flights to Atlanta are delayed now, so that means sitting here at MIA even longer now...

Now, where were we? My walk about in Miami Beach was hot and long. Here are some more pictures beginning in the very tip of the beach, where the cruise ships exit the channel...

You can see the Vista way off in the distance.

Across the way is Fisher island, where the filthy rich live.

***Note: I'm sure their personal hygiene is fine, but they are really, really rich.

Hi! I just hinged your entire review, and really enjoyed it! I don't have a cruise booked right now, and haven't been on a ship in almost 4 years. Your pacing made me feel like I was right there with you. Thanks for sharing your vacation!

I also HATE good-byes :loudcry:...

So none here. We will "travel" with you again. Until then, GET BACK TO WORK (like the rest of us), and start the countdown until the next vacay.

No good bye...just I will see ya soon! :):tropical-drink::tropical-drink::champagne-toast:

About now, I'm feeling a little hungry since I hadn't eaten in almost 3 hours... I stopped of at one of the local taco spots, Taquiza, of diners drive ins and dives fame. I had the huitlacoche (truffle corn, onions and peppers, lengua (cow tongue) and chapulines (roasted grass hoppers)

The tacos were great, but small. Those three little tacos were $12

Sorry, I hope I'm not over doing it with the art deco, but in Atlanta they tear down anything over 30 years old and build something new. These are beautiful historic buildings.

After this, I realized that I had not eaten in 2 hours, so I headed to the second taco spot, Huahuas... Fried chicken taco, grilled mahi mahi, and chili rubbed shrimp.

From there, I walked a few more blocks to Bodega tacos...

My main objective here was one of their great margaritas (surprise!) First was the pico picante. Silver tequila, mezcal, cucumber, jalapeno, lime, and orange bitters, with a chili salt rim. On the menu, the price was $13, but after tax and a mandatory resort fee or something like that, it was $17... And of course they expect a tip on top of that... I give to you, the $20 margarita.

Next, they had a "special" on their version of a bloody Maria. The Oye Maria... mezcal, chipotle puree, tomato juice, lime, bacon, cucumber, pineapple, spicy salt rim. $7 menu price, $10 reality price. These two drinks cost me over 30 bucks...

No way! Good for you! I was eyeing her and desperately wanted to sail. The prices were insane for solo! I think I will wait until the "newness" wears off. LOL! The Escape is my next Ship to conquer in October...

Safe travels!

You will love the Escape. I have sailed upon her four times now... I booked the Bliss the very first day they opened for $899 plus fees in a solo cabin...
