cb at sea Posted May 30, 2018 #27 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Bahamas have Florida like weather.....it could be chilly, or it could be nice! Go further south and you will have summer weather.
capriccio Posted May 30, 2018 #28 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Bahamas have Florida like weather.....it could be chilly, or it could be nice! Go further south and you will have summer weather. Agree. And it varies from year to year. This past winter, especially January, in south Florida and the Bahamas was the worst weather (cold and rainy during the 'dry season'!) we have experienced in 5 years. Some of our neighbors said it was the worst in the 28 years they have been wintering in south Florida.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 30, 2018 #29 Share Posted May 30, 2018 I understand that they aren't technically the Carribean, didn't use the proper choice of words. However, the Keys aren't THAT far from a lot of these Carribean ports. That is my concern. You have been given some good advice. Consider Cuba as a dividing point. From Cuba north, you can have weather thats a bit chilly for water activities or it can be hot and gorgeous. As you move south from Cuba the temperatures tend to be more reliable with fewer variations. If you head to the so-called Southern Caribbean you will have the greatest odds of hot weather. Go to the ABC Islands (Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire) and you have a better chance of dry weather. As an example, Aruba gets about 20 inches of rain per year while you will find other ports (further north) that will get at least double that amount. OVgirl Posted May 30, 2018 #30 Share Posted May 30, 2018 And then of course your tolerance can depend on where you are coming from. When we come from sub freezing temperatures in February it all feels warm on a cruise. Just last week some in my family were swimming in above ground pools that were at 62'F. We're just thrilled when the winter is over.
