Rare ghstudio Posted June 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2018 (edited) I just checked prices on a late 2019 cruise that we've booked on celebrity's web site. Only one fare is offered per cabin category.....and it used to be the non-refundable rate. Today, there is no option to change that to a refundable rate!!!. Has celebrity dropped the Refundable option, only offering non-refundable bookings? I checked some other internet TA sites and they too now show the same rate for refundable and non-refundable. Was there an announcement that Celebrity was only offering non-refundable rates after 6/1???? Very confusing..... skt4cruise Posted June 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2018 I was really shocked when booking regarding the NONREFUNDABLE, we are Elite on Celebrity and first time we've seen this! We booked with a TA for May 2019 and she gave us refundable and several price cuts or we may not have booked at all. We have cruised almost yearly lately so this must be new. Rare ghstudio Posted June 3, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted June 3, 2018 Non refundable deposits have been around for many months now....but Celebrity has also offered "refundable deposits" as a slightly higher cost option. For those of us who travel alot and have busy schedules, it's worth booking with refundable deposits. All that is until this weekend. The option for refundable deposits has apparently disappeared....so you can only book with Non-Refundable deposits. For some like us, that's a big (and unannounced) change and will effect our on-going bookings on Celebrity. Of course, this could just be an internet error due to the web changes this weekend......it's just confusing.

After selecting the Go Big option and saying no to prepaid gratuities, the next screen says: NO RISK DEPOSIT and the net price is the same as the refundable price that was current when I last checked on 5/20/18 and is refundable until June 7, 2019. And there does not appear to be an alternative non-refundable rate available!

Hopefully, they have reconsidered the non refundable deposit. Sent from my HUAWEI KII-L05 using Tapatalk
Rare ghstudio Posted June 3, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted June 3, 2018 It seems to be a moving target....you are correct, as of now (2:35PM EST), you can only book with a refundable deposit and on the two cruises I'm checking, both have dropped by $450 a cabin. That summary page with the refundable deposit statement wasn't there at noon today Maybe Celebrity has dropped the idea of non-refundable deposits (which I would applaud because it only confuses everyone). Or maybe they are incorrectly showing the non-refundable rates and saying they are refundable. Or maybe there is a new promotion that hasn't been announced yet. Or......... It will be interesting to see how this works out.....maybe I just saved $900 (TA is closed today so I can't lock in these rates....darn!)
Rare garyl62 Posted June 3, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2018 Ghstudio, do a 24 hour courtesy save and then you can transfer to your TA tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Forums mobile app
Rare hcat Posted June 3, 2018 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2018 Maybe the new system can't handle the two tier price structure We would never book a non refundable fare without "cancel any reason " insurance...so the price diff might not be worth it????? Rare ghstudio Posted June 3, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted June 3, 2018 Ghstudio, do a 24 hour courtesy save and then you can transfer to your TA tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Forums mobile app I would, but I am using 2 on-board bookings and I want to keep the extra for on-board booking OBC. I'll wait until morning....and if the price is the same, I'm good. I also noticed that on the 9 day cruises, the upgrade to better is $270 (for 2). Since we picked drink package, we could buy the $300 OBC perk for $270....seems like a good deal. Since I do enjoy the casino, exchanging non refundable OBC for chips works for us....or I can use it to upgrade some of the drinks.. Booking and managing cruises is almost a full time job :)
